1. Introduction
The purpose of this document is to aid service technicans in serviceing Craftunique products.
This manual must be used only by authorized service partners. The content of this manual is
condental in its entirety.
While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of this document, some errors may exist.
If you nd any errors, or if you have further suggestions please send your reports
The neccessary prelimanery precautions:
1. Servicing and alignment must be undertaken by qualied personel only.
2. Use only approved components as speced in the part list.
3. Ensure that, all connectors, components, modules, screws and insulators are re-tted cor-
rectly after servicing and alignment.
4. Ensure that, all cables and wires are repositioned correctly.
5. Electrostatic discharge can easily damage the sensitive components contained within electro-
nic products. Ensure that, all products are serviced in a proper anti-static environment.
6. Do not use a power supply with a voltage other than that specied. Avoid multiple connections
to one outlet: they may cause re or electric shock. When using an extension cable, always check
that it is adequate for the rated current.
7. Do not place the printer on an inrm or angled surface: the printer may tip over, causing in-
jury.
8. Always handle the machine by the correct locations when moving it.
9. Always follow the procedures for maintenance described in the service manual and other re-
lated brochures.
10. Under no circumstances attempt to bypass or disable safety features including safety mechan-
isms and protective circuits.
11. Always check that the printer is correctly connected to an outlet with a ground connection.
12. Use utmost caution when working on a powered machine. Keep away from moving parts.
13. Handle the hotend with care to avoid burns as it can be extremely hot.

2. General description
Electronics description
This device consists of two separate main modular components: the Pr3Dator and the HMI panels.
The Pr3Dator board’s main function is controlling the printer itself while the HMI board is res-
ponsible for the user interactions.
The Pr3Dator board can maintain the machine operation by itself, if the machine is controlled
using USB.
Pr3Dator:
The Pr3Dator board is based on the high performance ARM Cortex M3 Atmel SAM3X processor, which
operate at 84MHz. The operating rmware is written and maintained by CraftUnique.
The Pr3Dator board runs the motor controllers, plus the heating and cooling.
Its voltage range is from 12V to 36V. All current CraftBot models are using 24V for driving the
motors. The 24V is used solely by the Pr3Dator board; the HMI is driven using 12V, which is pro-
vided by the Pr3Dator board.
All the fan units use a standard 12V, as there are no separate special fans needed.
The units is tted with a real time clock (RTC) conguration which keeps the time while being
powered off.
The Pr3Dator board executes all of it’s commands based on the gcode.
Communication between the Pr3Dator and the HMI boards is done through special mcodes.
USB:
The USB (Universal Serial Bus) provides a wired connectivity between a USB host PC and the
CraftBot itself.
USB is a differential serial bus for USB devices. The USB controller supports USB specication
revision 2.0 in accordance with the full speed USB (12 Mbps). The device is connected to the USB
host using a USB-B connector. The USB bus utilizes hot plugging capabilities, which means that
USB devices may be plugged in/pulled out at any time.
HMI:
The HMI board is based on the high performance ARM Cortex M3 Atmel SAM3X processor, which opera-
tes at 84MHz. The operating rmware is written and maintained by CraftUnique.
The HMI board controls the functions of the LCD display, backlight, interior lights, beeper, and
thumb drive.
WiFi module:
The WiFi module provides a fully digital link enabling communication between the CraftBot and
the CraftApp. The WiFi module is for CraftBot 2 models only, and it’s operation is supported
with the HMI board. The WiFi module runs on a frequency of 2.4 GHz. It is compatibile with the
802.11b/g/n standards.
Power:
The power is provided by a single voltage power supply; the other neccessary voltages are gene-
rated by the Pr3Dator / HMI board respectively.
The power supply has no standby state, so it has to be switched off when the device is not in
use.

2. General description
Mechanical description
The device is tted with a crossed-belt Core XY mechanism in which the two motors are xed to
the equipment casing and either the identical or different rotation of the motors themselves
dene if the head is moving on the X or the Y axes. In this case, we refer to the names of the
motors as A and B.
The GT2 belts are open ended.
CraftBot Plus and CraftBot 2 models uses 8 mm rods for the LM8UU linear bearings. Special Steel
or Aluminium metal parts are used where possible to assure the longevity of the machine.
For the Z axis’ precision, 12 mm rods and linear bearing are used.
To ensure a more precise and uid movement, an Oldham coupling is applied; this prevents unne-
cessary jamming of the Z axis and allows for optimal Z screw movement.
