Replacing External Parts (1)
Face cover
To remove:
1. Open the face cover.
Disconnect the connector.
2. Remove the setscrews A (2 pcs.).
Remove the face plate.
To attach:
1. Follow the above procedure in reverse.
Belt cover
To remove:
1. Remove the caps.
2. Remove the setscrews B and C.

3. Loosen the setscrew D.
4. Loosen the setscrew E.
Remove the belt cover.
To attach:
Follow the above procedure in reverse.
NOTE:
The setscrew C is tapping screw.

Replacing External Parts (2)
Top cover unit
To remove:
1. Open the top cover.
Remove the setscrews A and B.
2. Close the top cover.
Raise the carrying handle.
Remove the setscrew C.
5. Detach the top cover for the machine.
Be careful not to pull the bobbin winder motor cords.
Disconnect the connector from the printed circuit board U1.
Remove the top cover.
To attach:
Follow the above procedure in reverse.
Be careful not to pinch the cords when atttaching the top cover
to the machine.

3. Pry up the front edge of the top cover body to unhook it
from the front cover.
4. Lift the top cover unit and draw it out to the left.

To remove:
1. Remove the setscrews A (3 pcs.).
2. Remove the setscrews B (2 pcs.).
3. Remove the base plate.
To attach:
Follow the above procedure in reverse.

To remove:
1. Remove the extension table.
2. Remove the setscrews C (4 pcs.).
Remove the setscrews D (3 pcs).
Remove the base cover.
To attach:
Follow the above procedure in reverse.

1. Remove the extension table.
2. Remove the setscrews E (2 pcs).
Remove bed cover.
To attach:
1. Follow the above procedure in reverse.

Free arm cover
To remove:
1. Remove the presser foot. Push down the needle plate
release lever to remove the needle plate.
Remove the bed cover (see page 3).
2. Remove the threaded pin.
3. Loosen the setscrew and unhook the hook A by sliding
the free arm cover to the left.
4. Pull the free arm cover to the left and lift the part B to clear
the needle palte base, and remove the free arm cover.
To attach:
1. Place the free arm cover on the free arm inserting the
hook C into the opening.
2. Insert the right end of the free arm cover under the
front cover by pushing the right end. Push the free arm
cover until all the hooks and tabs snap in place.
3. Follow the steps 1 to 3 of removal procedure in reverse.

To remove:
1. Remove the belt cover and top cover (see pages 1 and 2).
2. Loosen the setscrews (A, B, C, D, E and F).
3. Push down the rear cover through the holes (G and H)
with a screwdriver to unhook it from the front cover.
4. Disconnect the all connectors. Remove the front cover.
To attach:
Follow the above procedure in reverse.

To remove:
1. Remove the belt cover, top cover and base cover (see
page 1, 2 and 3).
2. Open the face plate and disconnect the connector.
3. Loosen the setscrews A and B.
4. Remove the setscrews C (2 pcs.) and D (2 pcs).

5. Push down the rear cover through the holes E to unhook it
from the front cover.
6. Remove the rear cover.
To attach:
Follow the above procedure in reverse.

Replacing Mechanical Parts
Needle threader holder (threader hook)
To remove:
1. Loosen the setscrew to remove the needle threader
holder.
2. Disassemble the threader unit and replace the threader
hook. Refer the following part number when ordering service
parts.
862627005: Hook holder (unit)
To attach:
1. Assemble the threader unit as illustrated and attach them to
the threader shaft by inserting the shaft into the holes.
Make sure the pin is engaged in the slot.
2. Secure the threader unit to the threader shaft by tightening
setscrew.
Adjust the needle threader hook position (see page xx).

NOTE:
Do not disconnect the connectors by pulling on cord.
To disconnect the connectors, grasp the connector, not the
cord.
To remove:
1. Remove the front cover (see page 5).
2. Disconnect the connectors. Remove the setscrews
(4 pcs.) and printed circuit board A.
To attach:
Follow the above procedure in reverse.
After replacing the printed circuit board A, adjust the following
parts:
• Knee Lifter (see page 48)
• Cloth guide start position (see page 53)
• Remaining bobbin thread sensor (see page 49)
• Presser bar height (see page 44)
• Embroidery foot height (see page 45)
* Adjust the embroidery foot height after the presser bar
height adjustment.
