7.Auto-negotiation

TheEthernetPHYsupports1Gbps,100Mbpsand10Mbpsspeeds.Inorderfor

twoEthernetmodulestocommunicatecorrectly,caremustbetakenthatthePHYon

bothmodulesnegotiatethesamespeed.Theauto-negotiationisalwaysenabledonthe

RealtekPHY.Ittakesplaceindependentlybetweenamoduleandthedevice

connectedonitsRJ45port.Itistheresponsibilityoftheapplicationtoensurethe

auto-negotiationresultisthesameforbothEthernetmodules.

Forexample,ifonemoduleisconnectedtoa100Mbpsmodem,thePC

connectedontheothermoduleshouldbeconfiguredtoguaranteetheauto-negotiation

resultisalso100Mbps.
