This device MUST be installed by a qualied agency in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. The denition of
a qualied agency is: any individual, rm, corporation or company which either in person or through a representative is engaged
in, and is responsible for, the installation and operation of HVAC appliances, who is experienced in such work, familiar with all the
precautions required, and has complied with all the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND COMPLETELY BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE INSTALLATION.

The WMO-1 Blocked Vent Switch is recommended for installation with an oil red appliance that normally
operates with its vent system under negative pressure. This device is intended to detect a blocked vent
system, responds to hot ue gases backing up through its heat transfer tube, and can be wired to shut o the
oil burner. It requires manual resetting.
WARNING: Read the installation instructions carefully and completely before proceeding with
the installation.
WARNING: Do NOT reset the device or restart the appliance unless the cause has been identied
and corrected by a qualied agency. Insure the switch appliance combination has been cleaned by
a qualied agency before placing back into service. Annual inspection and cleaning by a qualied
agency is required.
• Wiring MUST be in accordance with the current Canadian Electrical Code and any other applicable
federal, provincial and local code requirements.
• For installations in the USA, all wiring shall be in accordance with the National Electrical Code and
applicable local codes.
• For continued safe operation, the appliance-switch combination is required to be inspected and
maintained annually by a qualied agency. Failure to properly maintain the appliance-switch
combination can lead to death, personal injury and/or property damage.

1. Drill or pierce a clean hole (about 3⁄4" diameter) in the vent pipe near the appliance outlet. (See Figure 1)
2. The heat transfer tube must have the ber gasket installed against the mounting plate before attaching the
unit to the vent pipe.
3. Insert the heat transfer tube with gasket into the 3⁄4" diameter hole placed in the vent pipe during step 1.
4. Secure the assembly to the vent pipe with a minimum of 4 sheet metal screws. The channel must be
mounted horizontally, unless specied dierently by the appliance manufacturer. (See Figure 1)

CAUTION: Disconnect electrical power supply to the appliance when wiring the blocked vent switch.
FOLLOW THE APPLIANCE MANUFACTURER’S WIRING DIAGRAM.
IF THE APPLIANCE MANUFACTURER DOES NOT SUPPLY A WIRING DIAGRAM, REFER TO DIAGRAM A OR B.

5. Wire the blocked vent switch in series with the limit control circuit to the primary control or as an optional
location in series with the orange wire from the primary control to the burner motor. (See Diagram
A and B) Route all wiring with an acceptable wiring enclosure in accordance with the current CSA
C22.1 Canadian Electrical Code Part 1 and any other applicable federal, provincial, and local code
requirements. For installations in the USA, all wiring shall be in accordance with the National Electrical
Code and applicable local codes.
6. The following are typical wiring diagrams. Read and follow the appliance manufacturer’s instructions and
wiring diagram.

1. Disconnect power to the appliance.
2. Remove the two screws holding on the WMO-1 blocked vent switch assembly cover.
3. Remove the cover.
4. Remove the two screws holding the control box to the heat transfer tube assembly. The control box slides,
unlocking it from the heat transfer tube assembly
DO NOT DENT OR SCRATCH THE SURFACE OF THE THERMAL SWITCH.
IF THE THERMAL SWITCH IS DAMAGED, REPLACEMENT IS REQUIRED.
MAINTENANCE
Note: For continued safe operation, the appliance-switch combination is required to be inspected and maintained
annually by a qualied agency.
5. Carefully remove any buildup from the thermal switch surface.
6. Clear and remove any buildup or obstruction inside the heat transfer tube.
7. Remount, lock, and refasten the control box with the two screws removed.
8. Reattach the assembly cover with screws removed in step 2.
9. Re-establish power to the appliance.

câblé pour réinitialisé manuellement.

Installation
Montage du tuyau d’Évent
AVERTISSEMENT: Lire attentivement l’intégralité des directives d’installation avant
d’eectuer l’installation.
AVERTISSEMENT: Ne PAS réinitialiser le dispositif ou redémarrer l’appareil à moins qu’une agence
qualié n’ait identié et corrigé la cause. Vérier que le combiné contacteur-appareil a été nettoyé par
une agence qualiée avant de le remettre en service. Une inspection et un nettoyage annuels par une
agence qualiée sont requis.
• Le câblage DOIT être conforme au Code canadien de l’électricité et à toute autre exigence fédérale,
provinciale et locale.
• Pour une installation aux États-Unis, l’intégralité du câblage doit être conforme au National Electric Code
et à tous les codes locaux qui s’appliquent.
• Pour un fonctionnement continu et sûr, le combiné contacteur-appareil doit être inspecté et entretenu
chaque année par une agence qualiée. Négliger d’eectuer un entretien adéquat du combiné
appareil-contacteur peut entraîner la mort, des blessures et/ou des dommages matériels.
1. Percer un trou propre (d'environ 5⁄8 po de diamètre) dans le tuyau d'évent, à proximité de la sortie de
l'appareil. (Voir la gure 1)
2. Le tube de transfert thermique doit être muni d'un joint en bre installé contre la plaque de xation avant
d'attacher l'unité au tuyau de vantilation.
3. Ins´rer le tube de transfert thermique avec le joint dans le trou de 1,9 cm (3⁄4") de diamètre placé dans le
tuyau de vantilation à l'étape
4. Débrancher l'alimentation électrique de l'appareil lors du câblage du contacteur d'évent bloqué.

AVERTISSEMENT:
Le canal de connexion du contacteur doit être monté horizontalement, a moins que ce ne soit indiqué
diéremment par le fabricant d’appareils.

ATTENTION: Débrancher toute alimentation électrique à l’appareil lors du câblage du commutateur pour
ventilation bloquée.
INSTRUCTIONS DE CÂBLAGE
SUIVEZ L’APPAREIL DE FABRICATION DE CÂBLAGE DIAGRAMME.
SI le fabricant de l’appareil ne produit pas de WIRING DIAGRAM. SAISIR DIAGRAMMES A ou B.
5. Câbler le contacteur d’évent bloqué en série avec le circuit limiteur à la commande principale ou, dans
un emplacement en option, en série avec le l orange de la commande principale du moteur du brûleur.
(Voir les schémas A et B) Acheminer tous les ls dans une enveloppe de ls acceptable, en conformité
avec le CSA C22.1 du Code canadien de l’électricité, partie 1 en vigueur et toute autre exigence
fédérale, provinciale et locale qui s’applique. Pour une installation aux États-Unis, l’intégralité du câblage
doit être conforme au National Electric Code et à tous les codes locaux qui s’appliquent.
6. Voici des schémas de câblage typiques. Lire et suivre toutes les directives et tous les schémas de câblage
de l’appareil fournis par le fabricant.

7. Débrancher toute alimentation à l’appareil.
8. Dévisser les deux vis qui maintiennent le couvercle de l’ensemble de commutateur our ventilation bloquée
WMO-1.
9. Retirer le couvercle.
10. Retirer les deux vis qui maintiennent le boîtier de commande à l’ensemble du tube de transfert thermique.
Le boîtier de commande coulisse, en le débloquant de l’ensemble du tube de t
ransfert thermique.
11. Retirer avec soin tout dépôt de la surface du commutateur thermique.
12. Dégager et éliminer tout dépôt ou toute obstruction à l’intérieur du tube de transfert thermique.
13. Remonter, verrouiller et rexer le boˆtier de commande à l’aide des deux vis qui avaient été retirées à
l’étape
14. Remonter et xer le couvercle de l’ensemble à l’aide des vis qui avaient été retirées à l’étape 8.
15. Rebrancher toute alimentation à l’appareil.
