This document provides simple and distinctive guidelines for quick hardware installation of the PTN 910E-F.
This document does not describe pre-delivery assembly, but only describes procedures for onsite installation.
The PTN 910E-F supports indoor installation. Ensure that requirements on device operating environments are met before
installation. Using the outdoor cabinet IMB network box can moderately improve the device operating environment. If you need to
use an outdoor cabinet other than the IMB network box for the PTN 910E-F, contact Huawei to determine whether the outdoor
cabinet meets requirements of Huawei devices on the device operating environments.
Pre-Installation Check
Before installation, check whether the installation environment and accessories meet installation
requirements. Refer to the Installation Guide for information about specific operational requirements and
technical specifications.
NOTE
CAUTION
CAUTION
Laser beams from optical fibers may harm your eyes. Do not look into the optical interfaces without
eye protection when performing operations such as installing and maintaining optical fibers.

OptiX PTN 910E-F Appearance
Common Requirements for Installing, Laying out, and
Bundling Cables
The space between power cables, network cables, and optical fibers must be greater than 30 mm.
Power cables, network cables, and optical fibers cannot be interleaved but must be routed in parallel or separated with specific stuffs.
When cables are fixed or bound, the interval between two cable ties cannot exceed 40 cm.
When cables are bent, the bending radius is recommended to be greater than 60 mm and cables are not bundled at the turning
points.
The bending radius of optical fibers is no less than 40 mm. Do not pull, press, or squeeze optical fibers during installation.
Gently coil excess optical fibers. Do not forcibly bend the optical fibers.
Do not power on the device when installing and laying out cables.

DCN Interface Distribution
DCN interfaces are
enabled by default.
NOTE
By default, DCN is enabled on the first four
interfaces in the four optical interface areas.

•After the power plug is inserted, use the power cable
locking strap to fasten the plug connected to the device,
preventing the plug from getting loose or falling off.
•When laying out power cables, ensure that power
cables are separated from other cables ( E1 cable,
optical fiber, and network cable ). Generally, power
cables are laid out on the left and signal cables are laid
out on the right.
•Two AC power supply modules must be installed on
the PTN 910E-F.
NOTE

The conductive part of the power
cable must be completely connected
to the DC connector to prevent
personal injury caused by discharge.

Install network cables.
Network cables include service
and auxiliary network cables.
Install optical fibers.
The bending radius of optical fibers must be greater than its minimum curvature radius.
The minimum curvature radius of 2 mm optical fibers is 40 mm.
3Installing Optical Fibers
Install cables in the following sequence. Install cables of the same type from the left to the right.
After service network cables are installed, you need to check the connectivity of cables.
When installing cables, place power cables towards the left and signal cables towards the right.

When installing or maintaining optical fibers, do not look into the optical port without eye protection. See
Figure 1.
When laying out optical fibers, take proper measures to avoid any damage to fiber connectors.
After optical fibers are installed, place protective caps on the idle optical interfaces and place fiber caps on
the idle optical fibers. See Figure 2.
The type of the fiber connector is LC/PC.

CAUTION
Wrap both ends of the corrugated pipe using tapes to prevent optical fibers from being cut.
Do not use an open-end corrugated pipe to
hold excessive optical fibers. It is
recommended that an open-end
corrugated pipe that has a diameter of 32
mm accommodates 60 optical fibers at
most, each with a diameter of 2 mm.
Ensure that about 10 cm of the open-end
corrugated pipe is inside the cabinet.

You can also use the method of looping back Ethernet interfaces ( applicable to the Ethernet interfaces on
a device that is powered on ) to check the connectivity of network cables. That is, connect two Ethernet
interfaces using the network cable to be tested. If the LINK indicator is on, the network cable is normal.
