Minimum System Requirements:

. Windows 98 2nd edition or later

. One USB Port

. CD Drive

MMT Wireless Data Transfer Instructions:

Loading Software:

Place software disc into computer CD drive and follow the installation

procedures.

Hardware Set Up:

Connect one end of the USB cable into the back of the data transfer box. Plug the

other end of your USB cable into the USB port of your computer and follow the

“New Hardware Wizard” procedures (make certain that the MMT Data transfer

Software installation CD is in your CDROM drive).

Software Set Up:

1. You must ﬁrst open the application you wish to transfer data to (i.e. Microsoft

Excel or Access) in order for it to appear as an option in your MMT

Data Transfer software. Then, open the MMT Data Transfer software by

double-clicking the MMT LI icon on your computer desktop, or through

“Start” > “All Programs” > “Lafayette Instrument” > “MMT Wireless Data

Transfer”. Once you have the desired applications) open, you will select the

application you wish to transfer the data under option 1):

2. Select the way you want the data to be presented (horizontal or vertical).

3. Select the data you would like transferred. Each selection will require a

separate cell.

4. Check the box notifying you that all data will be erased from the MMT

storage bank. This only erases the data from the hardware device to enable

you to store the next set of data. All data will be archived in the folder

presented at the bottom of the screen.

Manual Store:

To manually store data, press the STORE button.

This will place the reading on the Main Measurement Screen into storage. A

single beep indicates successful storage.

Storing the Data:

The MMT can store test data in memory one of two ways, manual or

automatic.

Auto-Store:

To store data automatically, the AUTO STORE function must be enabled. No

beep is given in AUTO STORE mode.

When the Auto-Store function is activated, data is automatically stored by the

MMT after every test. The MMT detects when a new test begins and stores the

data for that test. Only the peak force and peak time for each test are stored into

the memory. The MMT memory is limited to 52 tests. If the memory reaches

capacity, a warning screen is displayed every time data storage is attempted.

Stored data must be emptied by deleting data using the clear all data registers

procedure, turning off the auto store feature, or by downloading the data to the

data transfer box.

To activate the Auto-Store function:

1. Enter the Main Menu by pressing the MENU button

2. Press the SCROLL button four (4) times to move the cursor to AUTO

STORE

3. Press ENTER to turn on the AUTO STORE

4. Press the SCROLL button two (2) times to move the cursor to END

5. Press ENTER to exit the menu

With the Auto-Store enabled, there is a possibility that unwanted data may

inadvertently be stored. The MMT will store all tests including test trials and force

readings from inadvertent pressing of the load cell. If a test requires that only a

select number of tests be recorded, the Auto-Store function can be disabled and the

tests can be stored manually by pressing the STORE button.

Downloading The Data:

1. Point the Infrared port in the bottom of the MMT at the data transfer box.

Warning: Since the connection is infrared, the line of sight between the

computer and MMT must be free from obstructions. The infrared transmitter on

the bottom of the MMT must be pointed directly at the data transfer box. The

MMT can not be more than 12 feet from the data transfer box. If the MMT is

more than 12 feet away, errors may result in the data transmission.

3. First, press the download button on the software and then within 5 seconds

press the ENTER button on the Manual Muscle Tester to initiate the

download.

Note: If a connection can not be established, an error is given along with two

audible beeps.

An option menu is then given which allows (1) a retry of communication or (2)

canceling the operation. The data transfer box receives the data and transfers it to

the computer software. The software then checks the data for validity and reports

the checksum back to the MMT. Once the MMT receives the correct checksum,

the data registers are cleared. If the correct checksum is not received, the error

message is given and the data is not cleared.

4. If the transfer is successful,

a dialog box will appear

asking you to select a starting

position on your spreadsheet

application (i.e. Microsoft

Excel). You must select a

position in said data ﬁle

before clicking “OK” on

the position cursor dialog

box within the MMT Data

Transfer software program.
