Fuel? Lookat thefuelsystem. Makesurethereisfuelbeing
suppliedtotheengine. Check toensurethat thefuel
filterisnot clogged.
Ignition? Check toensurethat theignition switchhaspowerand
isfunctioning correctly.
Bad contacts? Replaceswitch.
Loosewireconnections? Check wiring. Replaceasnecessary.
Otherproblems? Consult enginemanufacturer'smanual.
Blades?
Makecertainbladesareingood condition, not
excessivelyworn. Finishbladesshouldmeasureno
less than 2"(50mm)fromthebladebartothetrailing
edge, combination bladesshouldmeasureno less that
3.5"(89mm).
Spider? Check that all bladesareset at thesamepitchangle
asmeasuredat thespider.
Bent trowelarms? Check thespiderassemblyforbent trowelarms. If one
of thearmsisevenslightlybent, replaceit
immediately.
Trowelarmbushings?
Check thetrowelarmbushingsfortightness. Thiscan
bedonebymoving thetrowelarmsup and down. If
thereismorethan 1/8"(3.2mm)of travelat thetipof
thearm, thebushingsshouldbereplaced. All
bushingsshouldbereplacedat thesametime.
Thrust collar? Check theflatness of thethrust collarbyrotating it on
thespider. If it variesbymorethan 0.02"(0.5mm)
replacethethrust collar.
Thrust collarbushing?
Check thethrust collarbyrocking it on thespider. If it
can tilt morethan 3/32"(2.4mm)[asmeasuredat the
thrust collarO.D.], replacethebushing inthethrust
collar.
Thrust bearing worn? Check thethrust bearing tosee that it isspinning free.
Note: Thrust cap, replaceif necessary.
Mainshaft?
Themainoutput shaft of thegearboxassemblyshould
becheckedforstraightness. Themainshaft must run
straight and cannot bemorethan 0.003"(0.08mm)out
of round at thespiderattachment point.
Yoke? Check tomakesurethat bothfingersof theyokepress
evenlyon thewearcap. Replaceyokeasnecessary.
BladePitch? Check toensurethat eachbladeisadjustedtohave
thesamepitchasall otherblades. Adjust per
maintenancesection inmanual.
WornV-belts? ReplaceV-belt.
Dirtycentrifugalclutch? Disassembleand clean clutch.
Defectiveorwornout
centrifugalclutch? Replaceentireclutch.
Wornbearingsingearbox? Rotateinput shaft byhand. If shaft rotateswith
difficulty, check theinput and output shaft bearings.
Replaceasnecessary.
Wornorbrokengearsin
gearbox?
Verifythat thegearboxshaft rotateswhentheinput
shaft isrotated. Replaceboththewormand worm
gearasaset.
Clutchslipping orsluggish
responsetoenginespeed
change.
Enginerunning rough ornot at
all.
Safetyswitchnot functioning.
If trowel"bounces, rolls
concrete, ormakesuneven
swirlsinconcrete".
Machinehasaperceptible
rolling motion whilerunning.
