1- Presentation
The Hp(10) Neutron Module is mounted on a DMC 3000 to expand the DMC 3000’s measurement capabilities to
neutron radiation.
This user’s guide is to be used along with the DMC 3000 User’s Guide (n°151153EN).

-4-
2.1 Compatibility
2- General
For the Hp(10) Neutron module to work correctly, it must be paired with a DMC 3000 using rmware V07.1.0 or
greater.
If the dosimeter displays a star at the bottom of its screen, rmware version is earlier than V07.1.0 and is not
suitable. Otherwise, check rmware version by pressing the "+" button to display rmware version.
If rmware version is not visible, use DMCUser.
The DMC 3000 must be equipped with the 26-pin connector (PN: 00153458)
prior to the attachment of the Hp(10) Neutron module.
Please contact Mirion Technologies for compatibility diagnosis and information.
The DMC 3000 must be congured to accept the Hp(10) Neutron Module (congurable in the Parameters tab of
DMCUser, see §2.7).

2.2 Settings
The Hp(10) Neutron Module itself contains all the proper functional settings and calibration parameters.
These parameters are saved in the module on non-volatile memory.
2.3 Hp(10) Neutron Measurement Display
In the standard conguration for the DMC 3000, display of the Hp(10) neutron measurements are automatic after
connection of the module.

2.4 Hp(10) Neutron Chirp Dose Increments
The blue LED ash provides notication of Hp(10) Neutron dose increments.
Dose increments can be selected from the value in the table beside.
The blue LED can be congured to ash for following two (2) options:
For Hp(10) Neutron Dose.
For Hp(10) Total Dose.
An audible beep can be congured to chirp for the following ve (5) options:
For Hp(10) Gamma Dose.
For Hp(10) Neutron Dose.
For Hp(10) Neutron Dose when the Neutron Module is connected and
Hp(10) Gamma Dose when it is not.
For Hp(10) Total Dose.
For Hp(10) Total Dose when the Neutron Module is connected and Hp(10)
Gamma Dose when it is not.
When the audible beep is congured for Hp(10) Gamma, dosimeter use Hp(10)
gamma dose increments dened in the dosimeter.
If the audible beep is congured for Hp(10) Neutron or Hp(10) Total dose,
dosimeter use Hp(10) Neutron Module audible beep dose increments.
This dose increment can be selected from the values in the table beside.
All those congurations are done using DMCUser.

2.5 Historical Data Function
Measurements and events of the Hp(10) Neutron Module are automatically stored in the DMC 3000 histograms
along with the Gamma Hp(10) measurements and events.
2.6 Handling Recommendations
The belt clip is strongly discouraged when a module is attached on the dosimeter because the opening gap of the
clip is signicantly reduced.
The user must always wear the dosimeter against the body (see the label on the back of the module).
Avoid having any foreign content, such as dust, dirt, or labeling, between the 26-pin connector board and the
module.
Make sure the gasket is clean and safe.
For proper sealing, equal and proper torque should be applied on the four (4) screws.

2.7 Module Management
The Module Management Mode is congurable using DMCUser software.
When a dosimeter is congured in "All" mode and has
been equipped with a module, this command resets the
fault message "Mod def" and return to operate without any
module.
Note: This command resets the secondary dose of the dosimeter.
Note: if the dosimeter is congured in "Neutron required" or
"Hp(0,07) required" mode, this command resets the secondary
dose but it does not modify dosimeter operation.
None: any physical connection of module is ignored by the dosimeter.
All: DMC 3000 accepts all type of module. When a module is connected the dosimeter changes automatically
its display conguration and display the Hp(10) neutron or Hp(0,07) shallow dose depending on the type of
module.
Hp(0,07) required / Telemetry required / Neutron required: DMC 3000 needs the required module otherwise
a default message "WRG MOd" is displayed or "Mod def" if no module is connected.

-9-
3.1 Alarm Display and Configuration
The Hp(10) neutron dose and dose rate warnings and alarms are congurable for the entire measurement range
from 1 µSv to 10Sv (0.1 mrem to 1000 rem) and from 100 µSv/h to 10 Sv/h (10 mrem/h to 1000 rem/h).
The Hp(10) neutron multiplier efciency coefcient can alter the precision performance at low dose rates and
modify the neutron dose increments size. The Hp(10) neutron alarm setpoints are saved in the dosimeter.
When an alarm is triggered, its cause is identied by the blinking of the corresponding measures.Visual and
audible alarms signal are shared with gamma and neutron alarms.
3.2 Confidence Test
An optical test is performed regularly every ten (10) minutes in Sleep, Pause mode and Run mode to verify the
module’s neutron detection capabilities. This test performs a complete check of the detection chain.
If the number of detected pulses is fewer than the expected number in one of the channels, the fault message
is displayed. This message lets users know the detection function is not operational.

3.3 Fault Diagnosis and Resolution
Major Fault: a major fault prevents the dosimeter from going into Run mode
Display Causes Solutions
The module was disconnected from the DMC 3000 without
rst affecting the disconnection via DMCUser. It is possible
that the dosimeter’s rmware version does not support the
module.
Turn the DMC 3000 in Pause mode. Verify the connec-
tion of the module and the integrity of the connector.
Verify that the rmware version of the dosimeter is
V0.7.1.0 or newer. Reconnect the module while the
DMC 3000 is in Pause mode. If problem persists,
contact your Mirion representative.
The dosimeter does not recognize the module. Change the DMC 3000 conguration to accept the
Neutron Module using DMCUser. See §2.1 and §2.7.
Physical problem related to the module’s detection circuit (not
communicating with the microprocessor).
Turn in Pause mode the dosimeter. Disconnect the
module.
Check the cleanliness of the module contact surface.
Verify the integrity of the 26 pin connector (all the
contacts at the same level).
Reconnect the module while Dosimeter in Pause.
If problem persists, contact your Mirion representative.
Physical problem related to the module’s detection circuit and
its detectors (optical verication).
Contact your Mirion representative.
Physical problem related to the module’s detection circuit (no
measurement time).
Contact your Mirion representative.
Limits to the pulse count due to too many mechanical shocks
or electromagnetic disturbances to the module’s detection
circuit.
Conrm the default occured during "normal" use (wit-
hout any mechanical stresses or elevated electroma-
gnetic activity). Contact your Mirion representative.
Minor Fault
Display Causes Solutions
The module’s calibration date has passed. Have the module calibrated.
