User’s Manual

- 2 -
This manual describes the CONPAL unit (Speed Control unit). The manual does not describe
warnings, cautions, or the like related to the Rollator itself. Please prepare a separate user's manual
for the Rollator main body to which the CONPAL unit is to be installed for when the product is to be
deli ered to the user.
The first half (pages 2-9) of this manual is for the user, and the second half (pages 10-17) is for the
distributor.
The first half for the user describes information that we would like you to relay to the user. We ask
that you please include the information in the user’s manual of the Rollator main body and be sure
to pass the information on to the user.
Changes in the shapes and colors used in this manual are designed to make the descriptions easier
to understand.
[For Users]
1 Precautions
To ensure safe use of the product, we ask that you please read this User’s Manual and use this
product properly with a full understanding of the warnings and cautions related to product handling,

Requirements related to proper handling are marked with the symbols below.
Indicates that incorrect handling may cause death or severe injury.
Indicates that incorrect handling may cause injury and/or property damage.
1-1 Prior to Use
・
Do not remo e and install the CONPAL unit to another Rollator or de ice. Doing so may lead to an unanticipated
accident.
・
In the e ent the product operates abnormally or produces an abnormal sound, do not use the product. If repair is
required, be sure to contact the distributor.
・
Check if string or the like is coiled around a tire. If so, prior to product use, slowly remo e the string, etc., while
being careful not to pinch your fingers.

1-2 During Use
・ Walk with the Rollator while taking care that the wheels do not become inserted in a groo e, such as a groo e of a
railway crossing, escalator, or ele ator. A wheel in a groo e may lead to falling.
・ Be sure to use the product with the center cap installed. If debris or water enters the interior, the predetermined
brake force will not be achie ed, resulting in the risk of falling. If the center cap comes off, contact the distributor.
・ Refrain from using the product on a wet surface. Doing so may lead to slipping and an accident.
・ Be careful of bumpy and inclined surfaces. Do not use the product on steep sloping roads.
・ Be sure to use the product after first erifying that the le els of adjustment on the left and right are the same. Failure
to do so may lead to an inability to maintain straightness, resulting in an accident.
1-3 During Repair and Inspection
・
Do not loosen, disassemble, or modify parts connected by bolts and nuts. When disassembly or repair is required,
always request the distributor to perform the task.
・
Do not remo e the center cap. If debris or water enters the interior, the predetermined brake force will not be
achie ed, resulting in the risk of falling.
・
If you replace a tire, replace both the left and right tires. Replacing only one tire results in the risk that a difference in
brake force will arise between the left and right.
・
Ne er apply grease or oil to the product. Doing so may lead to an inadequate brake force, resulting in falling.
1-4 During Storage
・
Do not store the product in a location exposed to water, wind, or rain. Doing so may lead to poor operation and/or
de ice failure, resulting in an accident.
・
If water enters the product, apply the brake fi e or six times prior to use to erify that the brake works. If the brake
does not work, apply the brake se eral times, erify brake force reco ery, and then use the product.
・
Do not store the product in the trunk of a car or any location that reaches high temperatures. Doing so may lead to
poor operation and/or de ice failure, resulting in an accident.
・
Do not carry the Rollator itself by holding the tires. Doing so results in the risk of fingers getting pinched between the
tire and frame.

Device Features and Component Names
2-1 Device Features
When installed to a Rollator, the CONPAL unit (Speed Control unit), automatically acti ates the brake at the time of
sudden acceleration, pre enting falling during Rollator use.
Unlike a con entional resistance brake system, the CONPAL unit acti ates the brake only at times of sudden
acceleration, making it possible for the user to walk smoothly without the brake applied during normal walking.
The CONPAL unit (Speed Control unit) is a brake capable of suppressing acceleration; it cannot fully stop the tires.
Do note, therefore, that there is a risk of falling when the user becomes fully separated from the Rollator, for
example. Caution is required.

3. Replacing the Tire
3-1 Checking if the Tire Needs to Be Replaced
・ There are groo es on the outer periphery of the tire. Check if the groo es exist. (Figure 1 and Figure 2)
・ If the groo es ha e worn away on either the left or right tire, the tire needs to be replaced. Be sure to contact
the distributor.
・ At this time, replace both the left and right tires. Replacing only one tire results in the possibility that a
difference in brake force will arise between the left and right.

4 Daily Inspections and Care
4-1 Daily Inspections
・ In the e ent an abnormality is found during the inspections below, be sure to stop using the product
and contact the distributor.
Performing inspections periodically ensures increased safety during product use.
Basic inspection details
・ Are there any cracks or deformations in the tires or wheels (inner or outer)?
・ Ha e the groo es on the tire outer periphery worn away, indicating that the time for tire replacement has been
exceeded?
・ Does the brake e er not work well or not work at all?
・ During use, does not the CONPAL unit produce an abnormal noise?
・ During use, do not the wheels shake significantly?
・ Are any wheel installation nuts or main body installation bolts loose?
・ Does the center cap come off easily?
・ Do not loosen, disassemble, or modify parts connected by bolts and nuts. When disassembly or repair is
required, always request the distributor to perform the task.
・ When taking care of the product, do not pour water on the product. Wipe down the product using a cloth
that was soaked in water and then squeezed tight.
・ Do not apply grease or oil to the product. Doing so may lead to an inadequate brake force, resulting in
falling.
・ Do not use soapy water or oil based cleaners. Doing so may lead to liquid entering the interior and, as a
result, failure to exhibit an adequate brake force, resulting in falling.
