Instruction Manual

CMJE-SLVPCI No.0062-88V

2. Cautions

●This product is not equipped with a short-circuit protection circuit. Use a power supply having a

short-circuit protection function (e.g. fuse, etc.).

●Verify that the supply voltage variation is within the rating. Also, check the voltage variation at the end terminal of the

transmission route, since voltage drop occurs depending on the diameter or the length of the transmission cable.

●If power is supplied from a commercial switching regulator, ensure that the frame ground (F.G.)

terminal of the power supply is connected to an actual ground.

●Do not use during the initial transient time after the power supply is switched ON. Furthermore, transmission

is not possible when the system is in Busy state (during switching ON of the power supply or system setting.)

●Make sure to use an isolation transformer for the DC power supply. If an auto-transformer (sin-

gle winding transformer) is used, this product or the power supply may get damaged.

●In case a surge is generated in the power supply used, connect a surge absorber to the supply

and absorb the surge.

●In case computer power supply is turned OFF rst, note that the output hold function of the

S-LINK V output units may not work.

Power supply

●Do not run the wires together with high-voltage lines or power lines or put them in the same

raceway. This can cause malfunction due to induction.

●Make sure to carry out the installation and wiring in the power supply OFF condition.

●In order to reduce noise, make the wiring as short as possible.

● Always use the specied transmission cable.

●Take care that wrong wiring will damage the product.

Wiring

●This product has been developed / produced for industrial use only.

●In case noise generating equipment (switching regulator, inverter motor, etc.) is used in the vicin-

ity of this product, connect the frame ground (F.G.) terminal of the equipment to an actual ground.

●This product does not have a dust-proof or water-proof construction. Do not use it in a place

having excessive vapor, dust, etc.

●Take care that the product does not come in contact with water, chemicals or organic solvents,

such as thinner, etc. Furthermore, do not use it in an environment having corrosive gas.

● Do not use the product in places where the ambient temperature or the humidity exceeds the specications.

Environment

● Do not tighten the screws with a torque exceeding the specications.

Terminal

●S-LINK V system is not compatible with system.

●Please refer to “S-LINK V User's Manual” for details of the system design.

●Any protective devices or safety circuits against system malfunction should be designed to be

external to the system.

2) Board No. setting switch (SW5)

If more than one board is mounted for use, it is necessary to set the board select number switch.

It is possible to use a maximum of 16 boards independently. Setting is possible in the range 0 to

F with a rotary switch.

Notes: 1) The number of boards which can be used may be limited by the computer resource.

2) In case of using the product in multiple units, do not set them to the same board No.

3) Transmission mode setting switch, I/O control number setting switch (SW2)

This switch sets each system setting. The transmission mode setting switch (SW2-1, SW2-2) per-

forms A mode, B mode and C mode setting. Furthermore, the I/O control number is set with the

I/O control number setting switch.

Setting is read in only once when power is supplied to the computer. Changing the mode switch

setting during operation is ine󰀨ective. (The setting cannot be changed with the reset command on

the S-LINK V system side.)

5) System set button (SW1)

The system set button is pressed to read and memorize the connection condition of the S-LINK V

units. Later, it is possible to check Error 3, Error 4 and Error 5 using the present condition as the

basis.

Notes: 1) If the system set button is pressed when Error 3 occurs, the error is canceled. However, if the

cause of the error is not rectied, the error address is, from now on, missed out from the checked

items. (The address is considered to be in unit unconnected condition.)

2) If the system set button is pressed when Error 4 occurs, the error is canceled and the connection

condition including the addresses where Error 4 has occurred is read again and stored.

6) Transmission indicator (Green)

It blinks when communicating (during signal transmission) with the S-LINK V I/O units. (Turns

OFF during no transmission)

Blinking interval di󰀨ers depending on the transmission speed. (A mode: Fast, C mode: Slow)

7) Busy indicator (Orange)

It lights up during the system setting or transmission process conrmation.

●It lights up when the power supply (+24V and personal computer side) is switched on till I/O re-

fresh is started.

●It lights up during the system setting (after pressing the system set button or executing system

setting from the personal computer side), and turns OFF when the system setting is completed.

8) Error indicator (Red)

It lights up when an error occurs on the S-LINK V system main cable. In case the cause of the er-

ror is eliminated, it blinks, and if the error No. is cleared with program, or when the system setting

is done, it turns OFF.

Notes: 1) Error 0 to Error 6 cannot be distinguished with the error indicator. Check with a program on

the VME bus system by using “5) HML0 + 48: Error No. / Error state” in “4. Assignment on

Computer.”

2) In case of turning OFF the blinking state, conduct it on the program.

4. Assignment on Computer

Notes: 1) HML is the rst address in I/O region assigned by plug and play.

2) For “HML0 + 00 to HML0 + 3F,” the contents of the assignment vary depending on the contents of the bank

change-over request register and the bank change-over response register.

3) Reading out / Writing in “HML0 + 00 to HML0 + 3F” must be done after the contents of the bank change-

over request register and those of the bank change-over response register match.

In case [Bank change-over response register = 01H] (S-LINK V I/O unit connection address)

●The first address of S-LINK V I/O units connected on the S-LINK V system main cable is

shown.

When each bit is “1,” the S-LINK V I/O unit having the set address is connected on the main

cable.

Note: When an S-LINK V I/O unit has several I/Os, only the bit corresponding to the rst address of that unit

is “1.”

In case [Bank change-over response register = 02H] (Error 3 occurred address)

● When Error 3 occurs, the rst address of the a󰀨ected S-LINK V I/O unit is indicated.

When each bit is “1,” the S-LINK V I/O unit connected to the address is disconnected or in error.

In case [Bank change-over response register = 03H] (Error 4 occurred address)

● When Error 4 occurs, the rst address of the a󰀨ected S-LINK V I/O unit is indicated.

When each bit is “1,” an unidentied unit exists at the S-LINK V I/O unit having the allocated

address.

In case [Bank change-over response register = 04H] (Error 5 occurred address)

● When Error 5 occurs, the rst address of the a󰀨ected S-LINK V I/O unit is indicated.

When each bit is “1,” output of S-LINK V output unit of the address short-circuits or the I/O driv-

ing power breaks down.

In case [Bank change-over response register = 05H] (Occupied address)

●The addresses allocated to the recognized S-LINK V units are indicated.

When each bit is “1,” S-LINK V I/O unit is connected to the address.

In case [Bank change-over response register = 06H] (I/O state)

●Shows whether the recognized address of S-LINK V system is used in input or output.

The address is used as “Input” if the address corresponding to each bit is “1,” and as “Output” if

the address is “0.” (Unused address is “0.”)

Notes: 1) Output is maintained until overwritten with the next output data.

2) In case output data is written into a unit address which has been set as an input, the written data is

ignored and input data is set after 1 or 2 refresh times.

In case [Bank change-over response register = 00H] (Initial value) (S-LINK V I/O data)

●This is an area to read out input data and write in output data of S-LINK V I/O units.

In case of input data, “0: Input OFF” or “1: Input ON” can be read out for each bit.

In case of output data, write in “0: Output OFF” or “1: Output ON” in each bit.

In case [Bank change-over response register = 07H] (Interruption setting)

●Shows the address of S-LINK V I/O unit that is set to interruption setting.

The interruption setting is conducted by 1 point unit.

When each bit is “1,” the signal of the corresponding address of S-LINK V input unit changes,

interruption occurs. (In case the resource that generates interruption is set)
