Regulatory Warnings
Industry Canada (IC)
Equipment Attachment Limitations
NOTICE: The Industry Canada label identifies certified equipment. This certification means the equipment meets certain
telecommunications network protective, operational safety requirements. The department does not guarantee the equipment will
operate to the user’s satisfaction.
Before installing this equipment, users should ensure it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local
telecommunications company (Telco). The equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection. The
customer should be aware that compliance with the above conditions might not prevent degradation of service in some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian maintenance facility designated by the supplier. Any
repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company
cause to request the user to disconnect the equipment.
For their own protection, users should ensure the electrical ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal
metallic water pipe system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural areas.
CAUTION: Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact the appropriate electric
inspection authority, or electrician, as appropriate.
Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
This equipment complies with Part 68 of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules for the United States.
A label is located on the solder side of the unit containing the FCC registration number. You must, upon request, provide the

4Introduction
The PIKA Digital T1/E1 PCIe card provides a solution for voice and data applications with four spans available for use with T1 or
E1 connectivity (SW configurable). The card is part of the HMP family of PIKA cards; all digital signal processing is done on the
host processor.
The card supports several types of Telco central office switches and private branch exchanges (PBX).
Features
• Quad span
• Total bandwidth of up to 6.176 Mb/s in T1 mode and up to 8.192 Mb/s in E1 mode
• 8.192 MHz span-multiplexed local TDM bus (128 timeslots)
• Dual reference PLL for line clock referencing, control and monitoring
• Integrated support for PIKA Technologies’ AllOnHost architecture
• Host processing architecture enabling customers to benefit from market improvements in PCI and processor architectures
Interfaces
The Digital T1/E1 PCIe Board has a PCI Express 1.0a compliant host interface for installation in standard IBM x86 or compatible
computers. It also provides four digital line interfaces. The digital line interfaces are used to connect to Telco-provided T1 or E1
digital lines.
Part Number and Serial Number
Each board has a part number and a serial number label. The part number is in the form PN PIK-xxx-yyyyy and the serial number is
in the form SN PIK-xx-yyyyy.
4.1 Compliance
The Digital T1/E1 PCIe board is certified compliant for use in the United States, Canada, and European Union countries. The
following tables list approval information for EMC/EMI, Telecom, and Safety standards.

NOTE: The term self-declared indicates the card was tested by a third-party test facility, but does not require an official approval
number by a country or region’s approval standard authority. For the TBR21 Telecom specification, testing was
performed by an in-house test facility.
EMC/EMI
EMC/EMI standards govern the amount of electromagnetic interference and immunity of electrical devices. The following table
lists each country or region, its approval standard, registered approval numbers (if any), and a short description of the approval
standard.
