Introduction

Thank you for purchasing a StarTech.com USB 2.0 PCI card. This PCI

expansion card will enable you to add high speed USB 2.0 ports to

your computer, and provide data transfer speeds up to 480 Mbps. Now,

you can easily connect and use high-performance USB peripherals like

DVD drives, video conferencing cameras, or high resolution scanners.

Plus, USB 2.0 is also backwards-compatible with USB 1.0/1.1,

meaning your existing peripherals will still function perfectly with no

additional conﬁguration required.

Installation

WARNING! PCI cards, like all computer equipment, can be severely

damaged by static electricity. Be sure that you are properly grounded

before opening your computer case or touching your PCI card.

StarTech.com recommends that you wear an anti-static strap when

installing any computer component. If an anti-static strap is unavailable,

discharge yourself of any static electricity build-up by touching a large

grounded metal surface (such as the computer case) for several

seconds. Also be careful to handle the PCI card by its edges and not

the gold connectors.

Hardware Installation

Turn your computer off and any peripherals connected to the1.

computer (ie. Printers, external hard drives, etc.). Unplug the power

cable from the rear of the power supply on the back of the computer.

Remove the cover from the computer case. Refer to documentation2.

Locate an open PCI or PCI-X slot and remove the metal cover plate3.

Insert the card into the open PCI or PCI-X slot and fasten the4.

bracket to the rear of the case. Refer to documentation for your

computer system.

Place the cover back onto the computer.5.

Insert the power cable into the socket on the power supply and6.

reconnect all previously disconnected peripherals.

Driver Installation

Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7

No driver installation is required for these operating systems, as this

USB 2.0 adapter card is natively supported, so the drivers are already

installed.
