Power over Ethernet (PoE) Connection
The VS-04A is PoE compliant, so there are two options for connecting the video
server and CCTV camera to a power and Ethernet source. The video server can
either be connected to a PoE-enabled switch or a non-PoE switch.
1. Use a single Ethernet cable to connect the camera to the PoE-enabled
switch. The Ethernet cable should meet the specs of UTP Category 5 and
not exceed 100 meters in length.
2. Connect the CCTV camera to the Video input connector of the video
server using a BNC Connector.
A. If using a non-PoE
switch:
1. Connect CCTV camera to the Video input connector of Video Server.
2. Use a standard RJ-45 cable to connect the video server to a PoE Injector.
3. Use a standard RJ-45 cable to connect the PoE Injector to the non-PoE
switch.
4. Use a standard power cable to connect the PoE Injector to a power outlet.
Note - This quick guide refers to a CCTV camera which is connected to a
VS-01A as a Network Camera.
