Compatible Memory Cards
No memory card is included. Purchase one of the following kinds of card
as needed. These memory cards can be used, regardless of capacity. For
details on the number of shots and recording time per memory card, see
“Specications” in the downloadable Camera User Guide.
• microSD memory cards*
• microSDHC memory cards*
• microSDXC memory cards*
* Cards conforming to SD standards. However, not all memory cards have been veried
to work with the camera.

You can download manuals and software from the following

• With a computer connected to the Internet, access the above URL.
• Access the site for your country or region.
• Adobe Reader is required to view the manuals.
• You can also download software from the website. For instructions on
downloading and installing the software, refer to the Camera User Guide
available for download.
Touch-Screen Operations
The camera’s touch-screen panel enables intuitive operation by touching or
dragging across the screen.
Touching .....Touch the screen briey with your nger.
Dragging..... Touch the screen and move your nger across it.
Initial Preparations
Inserting and Charging the Battery Pack
1Open the cover.
Slide the cover (1) and open it (2).

2Insert the battery pack.
Holding the battery pack with the
terminals (1) facing as shown, press the
battery lock (2) in the direction of the
arrow and insert the battery pack until the
lock clicks shut.
If you insert the battery pack facing the
wrong way, it cannot be locked into the
correct position. Always conrm that the
battery pack is facing the right way and
locks when inserted.
3Close the cover.
Lower the cover (1) and hold it down as
you slide it, until it clicks into the closed
position (2).
4Connect the compact power
adapter.
With the camera turned off, open the
cover (1). With the smaller plug of the
accompanying interface cable (=
2)
in the orientation shown, insert the plug
fully into the camera terminal (2).
Insert the larger plug of the interface
cable into the accompanying compact
power adapter.
5Charge the battery pack.
Plug the power cord into the compact
power adapter, then plug the other end
into a power outlet.

Battery charging begins, and the USB
charge lamp is lit.
When charging is nished, the lamp is
turned off.
Remove the compact power adapter from
the power outlet and the interface cable
from the camera.
Inserting Your Memory Card
1Open the cover.
Open the monitor (1).
Slide the cover (2) and open it (3).
2Insert the memory card.
Insert the memory card facing as shown
until it clicks into place.
Make sure the memory card is facing the
right way when you insert it. Inserting
memory cards facing the wrong way may
damage the camera.
3Close the cover.
Lower the cover (1) and hold it down as
you slide it, until it clicks into the closed
position (2).
Setting the Date and Time
1Turn the camera on.
Press the ON/OFF button.
The [Date/Time] screen is displayed.

2Set the date and time.
Touch the option to congure, and then
touch [o][p] to specify the date and
time.
When nished, touch [^].
3Specify your home time zone.
Touch [q][r] to choose your home time zone.
Touch [OK] when nished. After a
conrmation message, the setting screen
is no longer displayed.
To turn off the camera, press the ON/OFF
button.
Changing the Date and Time
To adjust the date and time once you have set it, do the following.
1Touch [H], and then touch [n].
2Touch the [3] tab, drag up or down to choose [Date/Time], and then
touch [Date/Time].
3 Follow step 2 in “Setting the Date and Time” to adjust the settings.
4Double-touch [^] to close the menu screen.
Display Language
Change the display language as needed.
1Enter Playback mode.
Press the [1] button.
2Access the setting screen.
Touch and hold [n] until the setting
screen is displayed.
If there are images
on the memory card, touch [H] in the
lower left to access [n].
Touch a display language to choose it, and
then touch the chosen language again.

Trying the Camera Out
Shooting
For fully automatic selection of the optimal settings for specic scenes,
simply let the camera determine the subject and shooting conditions.

Turn the camera on and enter [ ]
mode.
Press the ON/OFF button.
Set the mode switch to [4].
Touch [ ], touch [o][p] or drag up
or down on the screen, and then touch
[] to choose it.
To conrm your choice, touch [OK].
2Compose the shot.
If the zoom ring is turned in the direction
of [i], the subject gets larger. If the
zoom ring is turned in the direction of
[j], the subject gets smaller.
3Shoot.
Shooting Still Images
Press the shutter ring lightly (1), halfway
down. The camera beeps twice after
focusing, and AF frames are displayed to
indicate image areas in focus.
Press the shutter ring all the way down (2).
Shooting Movies
Touch [ ] to start recording a movie. (The
[] icon changes to [ ].) To stop movie
recording, touch [ ].

Trying the Camera Out
Viewing
1Enter Playback mode.
Press the [1] button.
2Browse through your images.
To view the previous or next image, drag
left to right or right to left.
Movies are identied by a [ ] icon. To
play movies, go to step 3.
3Play movies.
Touch [ ] to start playback.
To adjust the volume, drag up or down
across the screen during playback.
After the movie is nished, [ ] is
displayed.
Erasing Images
To erase the image you chose in step 2, do the following. Note that erased
images cannot be recovered.
1Touch [H], drag up or down on the screen, and then touch [a] to
choose it.
2After [Erase?] is displayed, touch [Erase].
