Introduction
The Druck DPI 705E / DPI 705E-IS pressure indicator uses
a silicon transducer to produce a pressure reading in
pressure units. These user instructions include the
operations for all DPI 705E / DPI 705E-IS Pressure
Indicators, safety instructions and the requirements for
intrinsically safe instruments.
The DPI 705E / DPI 705E-IS is equipped with ISO 228
G1/8 female pressure connectors up to 350 bar (5000 psi,
35 MPa). Above 350 bar (5000 psi, 35 MPa), autoclave
male pressure connectors are supplied. For NPT pressure
connectors, use Druck adaptor IO-ADAPT-9/16AUTOC.

Safety
The DPI 705E / DPI 705E-IS has been designed to be safe
when operated using the procedures detailed in this
manual. Do not use this equipment for any other purpose
than that stated, the protection provided by the equipment
may be impaired.
The product contains a Lithium coin cell for data backup.
This cell is not user replaceable.
Before installing and using the DPI 705E / DPI 705E-IS,
read and understand all the related data. This includes: all
local safety procedures and installation standards, and this
document.
Repair
Do not do repairs to this equipment. Return the equipment
to the manufacturer or an approved service agent.

1. Part Number, Maximum Working Pressure (M.W.P.),
Serial Number, Date of Manufacture (Month-Year).
2. EU Hazardous Area Markings.

6. EU Directive 2014/34/EU markings.
7. North American Hazardous Location Markings.
8. Protection Concept (Intrinsically Safe).

15. Pressure Connector Thread and Pressure Range.
16. Manufacturers Name and Address.
WARNING Do not use the non-intrinsically
safe DPI 705E in locations where explosive
gas, vapor or dust are present. There is a risk
of an explosion.
Some liquid and gas mixtures are dangerous.
This includes mixtures that occur because of
contamination. Make sure that the DPI 705E /
DPI705E-IS is safe to use with the necessary
media.
It is dangerous to ignore the specified limits
(refer to data sheet) for the DPI 705E /
DPI705E-IS or to use the DPI 705E /
DPI 705E-IS when it is not in its normal
condition. Use the applicable protection and
obey all safety precautions.
To prevent a dangerous release of pressure,
isolate and bleed the system before
disconnecting a pressure connection. A
dangerous release of pressure can cause
injury.
Do not apply pressure greater than the
maximum safe working pressure.
Do not apply pressure greater than 1.1 bar
(15.95 psi, 110 kPa) absolute to the REF
pressure port of differential pressure
indicators.
To prevent an explosion or fire, use only the
Druck specified battery.
Remove batteries from the pressure indicator
immediately when discharged and before
storage.

Installation
These instructions detail the requirements for using the
DPI 705E-IS Intrinsically Safe Pressure Indicator in a
hazardous area. Read the whole publication before
starting.
• Installation should be carried out by qualified plant
installation technicians in compliance with all local
safety procedures and installation standards. For
example: IEC/EN 60079-14, US National Electrical
Code NFPA 70 or Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
• Provide additional protection for indicators that may be
damaged in service.
The DPI 705E / 705E-IS is fitted with a G1/8 connector.
Refer to Figure A2 and key below for connector detail and
correct fitting method:
Note: Maximum torque which should be applied is up to
ISO 228/1, G1/8: 25 Nm (221 in lb).
1. DPI 705E / DPI 705E-IS pressure connector.
2. Bonded Seal, e.g. Dowty 400-003-4490-41 or
equivalent.
3. ISO 228/1 G1/8 pressure connector.
4. NPT pressure connector.
5. NPT female to G1/8 male adapter IO-ADAPT-1/4NPT
or IO-ADAPT-1/8NPT.
The pressure range is marked on the product label; refer to
item 1 Figure A1.
Batteries
For DPI 705E-IS use only 4 xAA LR6 primary cells from
the following list:
• GP 15A Alkaline
• Energizer Ultimate Lithium
Replacing the Batteries
The non intrinsically safe (Blue, DPI 705E) unit can operate
from alkaline, Ni-Cd, Ni-MH or lithium batteries. In US and
Canada:
• Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries must comply with UL 2054,
IEC 62133, IEC 61951-1 or IEC 61951-2 and shall be
acceptable when connected in series.
• Lithium batteries must comply with UL 1642 and
IEC 62133-2 and shall be acceptable when connected
in series.
• When replacing a battery, all 4 batteries should be
replaced with fresh/new batteries at the same time.
The intrinsically safe (Yellow, DPI 705E-IS) unit shall only
use the batteries specified in section “Batteries” on page 2.
The instrument requires 4 xAA/LR6 batteries. Fit as shown
in Figure A3. Use a small posidrive screwdriver to loosen
the captive screws in the battery compartment cover. The
battery orientation is shown on the back of the instrument
as shown in Figure A3.
Accessory Socket
The equipment has a single electrical port for connecting a
remote sensor PM 700E / PM 700E-IS. Refer to item 1 in
Figure A4. For the accessory socket entity parameters
refer to Table A5.
Specific Conditions of Use
1. Use only Energizer Ultimate Lithium Cell Type L91 (AA
type batteries) or GP 15A Alkaline AA with the
equipment.
2. There shall be no mixing of battery types inserted into
the equipment. All batteries inserted must be of the
same electrochemical system, cell design, rated
capacity and made by the same manufacturer.
3. Only fresh batteries to be used with the equipment.
4. Do not recharge the batteries.
5. Ensure the correct polarity of the batteries when
inserted into the equipment.
6. Batteries are only to be installed/replaced by
authorized personnel referring to user manual.
7. Hazardous Area (yellow) product may be used with
flammable liquids. Standard commercial (blue) product
is not to be used with flammable liquids.
8. This assessment covers the basic safety of the
equipment only (hazardous and non-hazardous
locations). It does not cover reliable function,
performance or other properties of the equipment not
related to safety.
9. In order to maintain pressure integrity of the sensors
(subsequently avoiding leakage) the installation and/or
end-application of this equipment must only allow use
of pressure medium fluids that are compatible with the
sensor materials which are Stainless Steel and
Hastelloy.
Declaration Requirements – UKSI 2016:1107
This equipment is designed and manufactured to meet
the essential health and safety requirements not
covered by UK Type Examination Certificate
WARNING Do not use tools on the
pressure indicator that might cause incendive
sparks - this can cause an explosion.
Only fluids that are compatible with Stainless
Steel and Hastelloy shall be used with the
pressure sensors. This is to ensure the
integrity of the pressure sensor and avoid
fluid leakage.
CAUTION Do not use the body of the
DPI 705E / DPI 705E-IS to tighten the pressure
connection, this can cause damage. Use the
flat faces on the pressure connector to hold
the body and tighten the pressure union. Do
not exceed the maximum working pressure of
the instrument.
The pressure port on the DPI 705E /
DPI705E-IS and the metal body of the remote
sensor PM 700E / PM 700E-IS are connected
directly to the circuit earth of the DPI 705E /
DPI705E-IS. The DPI 705E / DPI 705E-IS is
battery powered only and not intended to be
connected to any external electrical
connection.
CAUTION Do not mix cell types. Do not mix
old and new cells.
Remove cells from the unit when placed in
storage for an extended period of time.
If a cell has leaked return the unit to an
approved Druck Service Centre.
This symbol indicates that the batteries are low, replace
observing polarity shown on case.
WARNING No connection permitted to
devices with independent power source.

Declaration Requirements – EU Directive 2014/34/EU
This equipment is designed and manufactured to meet the
essential health and safety requirements not covered by
EU Type Examination Certificate SIRA 19ATEX2014X
when installed as detailed in this guide.
Pressure Safety
This equipment meets the requirements of the European
Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU and
UL 61010-1 for pressure safety.
Return Goods/Material Procedure
If the unit requires calibration or is unserviceable, return it
to the nearest Druck Service Centre listed at:
Druck.com/essential.
Contact the Service Department to obtain a Return
Goods/Material Authorization (RGA or RMA). Provide the
following information for a RGA or RMA:
• Product (i.e. DPI 705E / DPI 705E-IS)
• Serial number.
• Details of defect/work to be undertaken.
• Calibration traceability requirements.
• Operating conditions.
Quick Start
Time Out
If a key is not pressed within 10 minutes, the instrument
times out and switches off.
Leak Test
To perform a leak test, press the key three times. The
timer symbol shows on the display with a leak test
duration of 60 seconds. Press the key to increase the
duration to 120 or 300 seconds. To start the leak test, press
the key again. The instrument counts down to zero,
then displays the leak rate. Press the key at any time
during the leak test to quit and return to normal
measurement.
Zero
A zero should be performed on gauge and differential
instruments before measuring pressure. To perform a zero,
open all pressure ports to atmospheric pressure. Press the
and keys together. The display briefly shows
and the instrument calculates a new zero.
Do not dispose of this product as household waste. Use
an approved organization that collects and/or recycles
waste electrical and electronic equipment. For more

Key Description
Switches instrument on or off.
Filter on or off.
Tare on or off (changes the display reading to zero).
Changes units (1 of 16 pressure units, °C or °F).
View maximum, minimum or perform leak test (Max/Min
is reset at switch on).
Back light. Short press illuminates for 5 seconds. Long
press toggles between permanent on and off.
