A. MEET THE DIGITAL TRUPOSITION PROBE:
The patented TruPosition Probe is a powerful tool that performs rapid hole-
location measurements and more.
The Probe is designed to be inserted into a fixed block on your check fixture.
The floating tip of the TruPosition Probe can freely move in two directions,
and it will self-center when it locates a hole located in your part. The dual
displays on the Probe will report the “A” and “B” axis of the feature on your
part.

Optionally, you can connect your TruPosition Probe to a data collector, to
record the data or perform SPC analysis, etc.
Buttons:
On/Off: To power on the device, press both of the “On/Off” buttons
(using the included plastic push-tool, or an allen wrench). Both displays
must be powered on for correct operation of the TruPosition Probe.
in / mm: These buttons are for switching the displays between English and
metric increments. Press each button once to switch the display to whichever
system your application requires.
Zero / ABS: Is used to Master the TruPosition Probe.
B: MASTERING THE TRUPOSITION PROBE:
When powered on, the TruPosition probe will display live readings on the
dual displays. To power on the device, press both of the “On/Off” buttons
(using the included plastic push-tool, or an allen wrench). Both displays must
be powered on for correct operation of the TruPosition Probe.
1. Insert the TruPosition Probe into the Zero Set Master:

1. With the tip of the TruPosition Probe fully seated in the Zero Set
Master, press the “Zero” button on near each of the displays. This will
cause the displays to read “0.00”.
2. Remove the Zero Set Master.
3. Your TruPosition Probe is now mastered.
C: CHANGING THE BATTERIES:
You Will Need:
(2) #357 Batteries
(1) 3/32" Hex Key Wrench (Hex / Allen / Inbus key)

1. Flip the probe over so that the backside is visible.
2. Using the 3/32” hex wrench, unscrew the four screws that are
highlighted below with the green circles.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT REMOVE the screws highlighted with the red
X marks!
3. Remove the front cover, to expose the indicator bodies:

4. Remove the plastic battery covers by sliding them downward.
5. Remove the batteries and install fresh batteries.
6. Slide the battery covers back into place.
7. Install the front cover and tighten the four screws. IMPORTANT:
Do not over-tighten the screws! Use light hand pressure only!
8. You will need to re-master your TruPosition Probe before using it
again.

D: CHANGING THE TIP:
You Will Need:
(1) Replacement TruPosition Probe Tip
(1) Metal pin, approx 0.090 (A small hex key will work)
1. Hold the TruPosition Probe in your hand, with the tip facing
upwards.
2. Insert the metal pin into the small hole on the edge of the tip of
the TruPosition Probe.
3. Spin the pin and tip together in the counterclockwise direction to
remove the tip.
4. Using lacquer-thinner and a lint-free rag, wipe the end of the
TruPosition probe (the surface where the Tip mates to the probe).
WARNING:
NEVER spray any liquids of any kind onto the TruPosition Probe! NEVER allow
lacquer-thinner to contact any of the plastic pieces of the TruPosition Probe!
This includes the black handle, and the LCD displays! Lacquer-thinner can
damage those pieces!
When using lacquer-thinner, apply it directly to the rag, and then wipe the
only the metal portions of the TruPosition Probe!
5. Wipe all surfaces of the new tip.
6. Spin the new tip onto the TruPosition Probe and tighten using
light hand pressure only.

E: CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Your TruPosition Probe is easy to maintain:
Cleaning:
To clean the probe, use a lint-free rag to wipe the shaft.
Do not use any lubricants or oils on the TruPosition Probe.
If the tip movement is sticky, refer to the section of this manual titled
“Changing the Tip”. That section will describe how to remove the tip and
clean the mating surfaces of the probe and tip.
Storage:
Store your TruPosition Probe in a dry location, using the supplied storage
case.
When putting your TruPosition Probe into the storage case, take a moment
to shut off the display indicators. This will save your battery life.
