DOL 278A ON/OFF
4 Technical Manual
1 Product description
DOL 278 ON/OFF is a simple emergency opening unit, which in combination with the house controller can
emergency open in case of simple types of error. In case of emergency, the system opens completely. Emer-
gency opening is not available for all types of control failures.
DOL 278 ON/OFF has a built-in 24 V DC motor power supply, battery and charger.
Available in the following variants:
• DOL 278 ON/OFF, Medium (4.2 A)
• DOL 278 ON/OFF, Large (8 A)
• DOL 278 ON/OFF, Xtra Large (10 A)
A mini UPS Mini Power unit is available as an accessory. This unit enables the house controller to regulate ven-
tilation for a short period during a power failure so that emergency control via the emergency opening unit does
not need to take over. The mini UPS module can be connected to an alarm system so that alarms will be gener-
ated when the module is active.
At high power consumption
When a high power consumption is required, the DOL 278 ON/OFF can be extended with DOL 278 ON/OFF of
4.2 A, 8 A or 10 A. See section Setup options at high power consumption [}11].

4 Mounting guide
1. Drill holes in the bottom of the cabinet (A).
2. Place the emergency opening unit:
- close enough to the house controller for the rubber sleeve supplied (B) to fit neatly between them (the
emergency opening unit can be placed on either side of the house controller).
- so that there is enough space, particularly above the emergency opening unit for service setting (C) of the
front panel.
3. Knock out large knock-out pieces (D) from the house controller and the emergency opening unit and mount
the rubber sleeve in one of the holes.
4. If the ventilation plug (H) is removed, move it to the left side (I) to maintain the battery ventilation.
5. Mount the emergency opening unit using Ø5 screws and, if necessary, Ø8 wall plugs (E), so that the rubber
sleeve is squeezed approx. 10 mm.
6. Mount the rubber sleeve (B) so it is waterproof.
7. Run the cables through the rubber sleeve (B).
If space is inadequate right next to the house controller, the rubber sleeve can be left out, and the cables can be
extended and routed through M25 screwed cable connections (F).
Contactor or auxiliary relay (G) must not be installed in an emergency opening unit, as the battery
may explode in the event of a fault.

5 Installation guide
Installation, servicing and troubleshooting of all electrical equipment must be carried out by quali-
fied personnel in compliance with the applicable national and international standard EN 60204-1
and any other EU standards that are applicable in Europe.
The installation of a power supply isolator is required for each motor and power supply to facilitate
voltage-free work on the electrical equipment. The power supply isolator is not included.
5.1 Installation of battery
Use only VRLA battery set 18 V (3 x 6 V) as the battery otherwise may explode.
Tick and attach the supplied battery date label to the outside of the cabinet. Place the battery on the shelf in the
cabinet.
Battery module 4 Ah for emergency opening unit Medium.
Battery module 7 Ah for emergency opening unit Large.
Battery modules 2 x 7Ah for emergency opening Xtra Large.
5.2 Installation of the TEST supply separator
Place the TEST supply separator next to the emergency opening unit and the house controller for weekly testing
of the emergency opening unit.
A two-pole supply separator must be used if the two-house controller is supplied from separate phases. A three-
pole supply separator must be used at several house controllers for the same emergency opening unit.

DOL 278A ON/OFF
Technical Manual 9
The emergency opening unit must be supplied from the same phase as the house controller.
