DESCRIPTION
TRAP-IT™ Laser Beam Dumps are designed to dissipate
incoming laser power via heat dissipation. Place these safety
devices in a position along the optical beam path to provide
a nal beam stop.
Various designs and cooling methods allow for dierent
beam sizes, average power levels, and power density ratings.
For applications that range outside product specications,
we recommend that users expand the beam size with a
negative lens to lower the power density level.
Liquid-cooled models allow for higher average power and
have the potential for higher laser damage threshold ratings
depending on the cooling loop provided.
LASER SAFETY
Depending on the operating parameters of the laser source
and the potential for MPE (Maximum Permissible Exposure)
limits to be exceeded, there may be a signicant risk of eye
injury. Under such conditions, we recommend the use of ap-
propriate laser protective eyewear. Laser protective eyewear
must be evaluated in accordance with ANSI Z136.1 standard
for the Safe Use of Lasers.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Calculate your laser beam average power and maximum
power density. Never place the product in a location above
the maximum suggested power density as damage could
occur to the product nish.
2. Position the laser beam centerline within the TRAP-IT™
target center.
3. If this product is to be used as a control measure make sure
it is fastened to the table to prevent it from being moved or
knocked over.
4. Liquid-cooled models will require poly tubing with a 10mm
outside diameter.
a. Maximum pressure: 50psi [3.5bar].
b. Water ow 1-200 watts; ¼ gallon per minute [0.94 litters].
c. Water ow 201-500 watts; ¾ gallon per minute [2.83 litters].
d. Water ow 501-1,000 watts; 1 ½ gallon per minute
[5.67 litters].

COMPLIANCE
This product line is RoHS, Reach and LaserSmart® compliant.
WARRANTY
Kentek warrants TRAP-IT™ products to be free from defects
caused by faulty material or poor workmanship. Liability
under this warranty is limited to the obligation to repair or,
at Kentek’s sole option, to replace without charge, any part
found to be defective under normal use within one year
from date of invoice. Kentek must receive written notica-
tion within the warranty time period stating what defects
were noticed, or what problems occurred with this product.
This warranty shall not apply to items that have been subject
to abuse or misuse after delivery, or to items that have been
altered in a means not authorized by Kentek personnel.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
Depending on the frequency of use and the number of
personnel that may have access to the laser application we
recommend you establish a daily or weekly inspection of the
product.
• Verify the product is in the correct orientation to the incoming
laser beam.
• Verify that the absorbing target surface hasn’t been damaged
by the laser.
• Clean with ethanol, IPA, or acetone.
ACCESSORIES
Mounting holes are provided on the front face of the beam
dumps to accommodate a selection of accessories sold sep-
arately. Options include a View-it® infrared detector ring to
help walk laser beams towards the center of the beam dump.
Accessories are available to connect certain types of ber optic
connectors into the center of 0.75, 1, and 2-inch beam dumps.
