losses.

Safety instructions explained

Danger

This symbol warns against the risk of injury.

!Please note

This symbol warns against the risk of material

losses and environmental pollution.

Note

Details identified by the word "Note" contain additional

information.

Installation, initial start-up, inspection, maintenance

and repairs must only be carried out by a competent

person (heating engineer/installation contractor).

Before working on the equipment/heating system, iso-

late the power supply (e.g. by removing a separate

mains fuse or by means of a mains isolator) and safe-

guard against unauthorised reconnection.

When using gas as fuel, also close the main gas shut-

off valve and safeguard against unauthorised reopen-

ing.

Repairing components which fulfil a safety function can

compromise the safe operation of your heating system.

For replacements, use only original spare parts sup-

plied or approved by Viessmann.

Application information

The functions that can be connected depend on the

settings made at the heat generator. See heat genera-

tor service instructions. Only one function can be con-

nected to each EM-EA1 extension (DIO electronics

module).

Up to max. 3 EM-EA1 extensions can be connected to

a heat generator.

External LPG valve

Output Z1-L is active if the burner

control unit opens the external

LPG valve.

Extractor hood: External extrac-

tor interlock

An extractor can be switched off.

Output 66 switches from Ö to S

and thereby switches the extractor

hood off when the burner control

unit starts the burner.

Changing operating modes

Demand to all available heating

circuits simultaneously, as long as

contact remains closed. With the

relevant selected set room tem-

perature of the individual heating

circuit:

DI2 Standard room temperature

DI3 Comfort room temperature

generator is blocked. Output 66 is

switched over. Fault message F.

fault is present at condensate re-

moval pump.

Note

If only the fault message output is

to be used, e.g. setting the "fault

External demand (digital)

If 230 V voltage is present at digi-

tal input contact Z1-1, a demand is

sent to the heat generator with an

adjustable set flow temperature

(parameter 528.0) and a set

speed for the primary circuit pump

(parameter 1100.2).

External enable

If 230 V voltage is present at digi-

tal input contact Z1-1, the heat

generator will be blocked. Mes-

sage info I.57 is displayed.

!Please note

Electronic assemblies can be damaged by static

loads.

Before beginning work, touch an earthed object

such as heating or water pipes to discharge any

static.

Note

Apply strain relief to on-site cables.

Secure individual wires directly to each plug using

cable ties.

Blank off unnecessary knockouts with cable grommets

(not cut out).

■2nd extension EM-EA1: Rotary switch to 2

■3rd extension EM-EA1: Rotary switch to 3

Note

These settings are independent of the settings made

at other extensions, such as EM-MX (mixer). If an EM-

EA1 extension (DIO electronics module) is set to 1, an

EM-MX, EM-M1 or EM-P1 extension (ADIO electronics

module) can also be set to 1.

commissioning using the heat generator's commission-

ing assistant.

Danger

Incorrect core assignment can result in serious

injury and damage to the appliance.

Never interchange cores "L" and "N".

Separate power supply

If the power supply for the extension is not made at

the heat generator.

Danger

Incorrect electrical installations can lead to seri-

ous injury from electrical current and result in

appliance damage.

Connect the power supply and implement all

safety measures (e.g. RCD circuit) in accord-

ance with the following regulations:

■IEC 60364-4-41

■VDE regulations

■TAR medium voltage VDE-AR-N-4110

Danger

The absence of system component earthing can

lead to serious injury from electric current if an

electrical fault occurs.

The appliance and pipework must be connected

to the equipotential bonding of the building.

Isolators for non-earthed conductors

■The mains isolator (if installed) must simultaneously

isolate all non-earthed conductors from the mains

with a minimum contact separation of 3 mm.

■If no mains isolator is installed, all non-earthed con-

ductors must be isolated from the power supply by

the upstream circuit breaker with a minimum contact

separation of 3 mm.

Connect the power supply in accordance with the dia-

gram.

If the power supply to the appliance is connected with

a flexible cable, ensure that the live conductors are

pulled taut before the earth conductor in the event of

strain relief failure. The length of the earth conductor

wire will depend on the design.

Danger

Incorrect core assignment can result in serious

injury and damage to the appliance.

Never interchange cores "L" and "N".

!Please note

Incorrect phase sequence can cause damage to

the appliance.

Ensure phase equality with the heat generator

power supply.

■In the following circumstances, use the output for the

accessories only to switch an on-site relay:

An actuator (e.g. circulation pump) with a higher

power demand than the fuse rating required for the

accessories is connected at the accessories output.

■In the following circumstances, connect one or more

accessories directly to the mains supply via an

ON/OFF switch:

The max. permissible total current of the control unit

for the heat generator is exceeded.

Note

In this event, the accessories concerned cannot be

isolated with the ON/OFF switch on the control unit.
