To ensure that your popper has a long life it’s best to season the kettle after unpacking.
• Wash and dry the kettle when you first unpack the popper.
• Wipe the entire inside of the kettle with a small amount of vegetable oil, then add a
few more drops and heat on medium for 30 seconds or until hot. Caution! Kettle will

Using Your Pit Popper
1. To use your popper, first add oil (approximately 3-4 Tablespoons), then your favorite
popcorn (1/3 cup) into the kettle. You can also use pre-measured packs, like our Gourmet
All-N-One Great Northern Popcorn Paks (2.5oz or 4oz packs) by emptying the entire
contents of the portion pack into the popper. Close the lid.
2. Pop over the flames or coals of a campfire, fireplace or on a gas or charcoal grill by gently
sliding the popper from front to back. Depending on how hot your fire is, the total popping
time can range from 3-6 minutes. When the sound of the popping begins to slow down,
remove from heat and wait until the popping stops completely. With the telescopic handle
still extended, carefully tilt the popcorn from the kettle into your serving bowl. Season to
taste and serve immediately! See the next page for important Do’s and Don’ts...

Do...
• Follow all warnings, instructions and recommendations
• Check to be sure that the handle is securely fastened to the popper before popping
• Check that the lid is securely fastened to the kettle before popping
• Always use caution when the popper is hot
• Season pan before first use and wipe clean with a paper towel after popping to keep
popper clean and ready to go
• Close lid before popping
• Slide popper back and forth after placing on fire to prevent burnt kernels and speed
up popping time
• Remove from heat when popping slows or stops
• ALWAYS USE OVEN MITTS when handling a hot popper or pouring hot popcorn
from the kettle.
Don’t...
• Don’t put face or hands near popper lid when freshly popped to avoid steam burns
• Don’t put in microwave or use anything other than a paper towel or if needed, mild
soap and water to clean your popper
• Don’t pop in a dry popper (without oil); do not use butter or olive oil spray or
vegetable spray to pop popcorn
• Don’t set hot popper on plastic, glass or place on or near flammable materials
• Don’t let children use the popper and always watch children while the popper is hot
• Don’t use the popper when water is in kettle because water will cause oil to pop and
potentially injure you or others
• Don’t use sugar or cheese as these may stick, burn or explode when hot
• Don’t leave popper unsupervised when popping or hot
Storing Your Pit Popper
1. You can store your Pit Popper with the handle attached or
detached. If storing with the handle attached you can collapse
the handle and hang inverted from the handle end/loop.
2. To detach your handle, first lift on the handle clip to collapse the extension and lower the clip
to hold the compacted handle in place.
3. Next, locate the metal clip on the popper lid that is directly beneath the
handle and press and hold down. While keeping the clip down, slide the popper
handle forward and then up to release and remove.
Clean your popper kettle by wiping the inside with a clean paper towel. No
need to clean with detergent....the more seasoning the better!
