Safety Information

Before installing and using the printer, please read the following items carefully.

1. Safety instructions

The print head and step motor are calorific and their temperatures are high when printing or just

after operation, so please don’t touch them and their peripherals for safety purpose.

The thermal head is ESD sensitive device. Don’t touch its printing parts and connecting parts to

keep it from damages.

2. Caution

1) Install the printer on a flat and stable place.

2) Reserve adequate space around the printer so that the operation and maintenance can be performed

conveniently.

3) Keep the printer far away from water source and do not expose the printer to direct sunlight, strong light

and heater.

4) Do not use or store the printer in a place exposed to heat of fire, moisture and serious pollution.

5) Do not place the printer on a place exposed to vibration and impact.

6) No dew condensation is allowed to the printer. In case of such condensation, do not turn on the power

until it has completely gone away.

7) Disconnect the AC adapter when the printer is deemed to spare for a long time.

8) Don’t spill water or other electric materials on the printer. In case that this happens, shut down the

power immediately.

9) Do not allow the printer to start printing when there is no recording paper in, otherwise the print head

will be damaged.

10) To ensure quality print and normal lifetime, use recommended paper or paper roll with same quality.

11) Shut down the printer before connecting or disconnecting interfaces connectors to protect control

board from damages.

12) Set the print darkness to a lower grade as long as the print quality is acceptable. This will help to keep

the print head durable.

13) Do not disassemble the printer without permission of a technician, even for repairing purpose.

14) Keep this manual carefully at hand for ready reference.

1. Overview

1.1Outline

BT-UC156 printer is an embedded printer equipped with an auto-peel off module and a rewinder. It can

support thermal label and thermal continuous paper up to 56mm printable width. This product is mainly

used in applications where real-time label or receipt printing is necessary, like label scale, electric scale

and so on.

BT-UC156 is connected with other devices via serial interface.

Caution:

Do not paste paper to the paper supply hanger or base paper rewinder.

2.3 Print and tear-off position

2.3.1 Print position

Paper is located by margin, the location of paper and TPH is as figure below showed. The distance

between effective print start point and paper margin is about 3mm.

3. Appearance and Parts

3.1 Appearance and parts

●The appearance of the printer is shown as figure 3.1.1.

●Some parts’ function

1) Paper guide ring (5)

It is a paper guide organ which can be adjusted according to paper width.

2) Pressure adjusting knob(8)

It is a Printhead pressure adjusting organ in stepless mode ranged from 15N to 22N. The Printhead

pressure can be increased when rotating the knob in clockwise, otherwise the Printhead pressure shall

be decreased.

Notice:

In order to increase Printhead lifetime we suggest that users should select lower Printhead

pressure in case of satisfied use.

Paper guide ring is an accessory which can help the printer adjust different paper width. Users

should keep it carefully.

3.2 Key Function Button

In continuous paper mode

In standby status, printer feed paper after pressing this key.

Press this key and power the printer, printer will print configuration sample.

In label paper mode

In standby status, printer will locate next label to printing position after pressing this key.

Press this key and power the printer, printer will perform paper checkout.

Press this key to get rid of error status under paper location error or paper checkout failure status.

3.3 LED and Buzzer Explanation

The table as below shows the relations among errors, buzzer and LED.

Notice:

The printer uses thermal resistance to test Printhead temperature. If Printhead is overheated,

protecting circuit shall shut off Printhead power and stop printing at the temperature of 65℃.

Paper checkout error shall happen only when the checkout fails.
