JUMP LEADS KH4217
Intended use
These battery jumper leads are intended exclusively for private use and for
utilisation in the brief bridging of a flat standard commercial starter battery
(lead battery for vehicles) with a power source of 12 V - 24 V. These battery
jumper leads may ONLY be used for supplying power to petrol motors
with a cylinder capacity of up to 2500 cm3(they are NOT suitable for
diesel motors!).
Technical data
Cable length: 3 m Cross-section: 16 mm2
max. Cylinder capacity: 2500 cm3Petrol motor / NO diesel motors!
Safety information
• Before starting the bridging procedure, be sure to check the details given
in the operating handbooks for BOTH vehicles.
• Check to ensure that the two batteries have the same rated voltage (e. g.
12 Volt). The capacity (details in Ah) of the supplier battery should not
be significantly smaller than that of the receiver battery.
• Ensure that the permitted cylinder capacity limits of the battery jumper
leads are not being exceeded by the vehicles.
• There may NOT be any bodywork contact existent or possible between
the two vehicles.

• The ignition on both vehicles MUST be switched off before the battery
jumper leads are connected. Additionally, the hand brake must be activated
and, for manual vehicles the gear lever must be in neutral, for automatic
vehicles the selector lever must be in the position P.
• During the starting procedure both batteries must remain properly
connected within their vehicles. An interruption could lead to the destruction
of the dynamo/alternator!
Warning: Risk of electric shock!
• Always follow the sequence described for attaching and detaching the
cables, and for starting the engines!
Risk of explosion!
Under no circumstances should you connect the black cable directly to the
minus pole of the receiver battery, should you do so there is the risk that
detonating gas may explode when making/breaking the connection!
Keep open lights, heat or electrical sparks well away from the batteries.
There is a risk of deflagration!
Risk of personal injury!
• The battery jumper leads must be placed so that they cannot be caught
by rotating parts within the engine compartment. There is also a risk of
personal injury!
• Exercise caution when touching the clamps, due to the high electricity
flow they can become very hot. There is a risk of being burnt!
• Do not bend over the batteries. The electrolyte in flat batteries is fluid even
at low temperatures. There is a risk of acid burns!

Connecting the cables (Fig. A)
Connect the plus pole first!
ALWAYS first connect the red cable with the plus pole of the receiver battery and
THEN with the plus pole of the supplier battery.
• First connect the red cable with the red pole clamp to the plus pole on
the receiver battery (1).
• Connect the second red pole clamp to the plus pole on the supplier
battery (2).
• AFTER both plus poles are connected to each other by the red cable,
connect the black cable with the black pole clamp to the minus pole
on the supplier battery (3).
• Then connect the black cable directly to an earthing contact (e.g. on
the motor block or to a metal part connected directly with the motor
block) that is well away from the battery on the receiver vehicle (4). By
this means a possible ignition of the detonating gases that may have
developed will be avoided.

Starting the engines
• First start the motor in the supplier vehicle. Bring the motor up to a
moderate engine speed.
• Now start the motor in the receiver vehicle.
Attention:
The starting attempt may last for a maximum of 15 seconds. Wait for at
least 1 minute between start attempts.
• After the receiver vehicle has been successfully started, allow its engine
to run for about 2 or 3 minutes - until it runs smoothly.
Disconnecting the cables (Fig. B)
Risk of explosion! Disconnect the minus pole (earth)
first!
ALWAYS disconnect the black cable (minus) first - at the battery-remote
earthing contact resp. metal part in the receiver vehicle. NEVER disconnect
one of the clamps on the battery first. There is a risk of explosion due to
possible detonating gas development!
• First, disconnect the black pole clamp from the earthing contact in the
receiver vehicle (1).
• Then remove the black pole clamp from the minus pole in the supplier
vehicle (2).
• Remove the red pole clamp from the plus pole of the supplier battery (3).
• Then remove the red pole clamp from the plus pole of the receiver
battery (4).

Cleaning and storage
• Clean the terminal clamps, to remove any rust particles or other residues.
These can reduce their conductivity.
• Always keep the battery jumper leads in the transport bag, together
with these operating instructions.
Disposal
At the time of writing these instructions these battery jumper leads did not
contain any materials for which there are specific disposal regulations.
You can therefore dispose of them as for normal household refuse.
Dispose of all packaging materials in an environmentally friendly
manner.

rozběh benzinovýchmotorů s obsahem válce motoru do 2500 cm3(Není
vhodný pro dieselové motor!).
Technické údaje
Délka kabelu: 3 m Průřez: 16 mm2
Max. obsah válce motoru: 2500 cm3benzinový motory/
žádné dieselové motory!
Bezpečnost
• Před procesem startování si bezpodmínečně přečtěte návody k obsluze
obou vozidel.
• Zkontrolujte, zda mají obě baterie stejné jmenovité napětí (např. 12 Voltů).
Kapacita (údaje v Ah) nabíjecí baterie by neměla být podstatně menší,
než je přijímací baterie.
• Dbejte na to, aby se nepřekročily přípustné meze obsahu válce motoru
pomocného startovacího kabelu vozidel.
