Hardware Installation
General instructions for installing the card are provided
below. Since the design of computer cases and
motherboards vary, refer to your computer’s reference
manual for further information, if needed.
Static Electricity Discharge may permanently damage
your system. Discharge any static electricity build up in
your body by touching your computer’s case for a few
seconds. Avoid any contact with internal parts and
handle cards only by their external edges.
1. Turn OFF the power to your computer and any
other connected peripheral devices.
2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the
computer.
3. Remove your computer’s cover.
4. Remove the slot bracket from an available PCI slot.
5. To install the card, carefully align the card's bus
connectorwiththeselectedPCIslot,pushtheboard
down firmly, but gently, until it is well seated.

6. Replace the slot bracket's holding screw to secure
the card.
7. Replacethecomputercoverandreconnectthepower
cord.
Driver Installation
This sections provides information on how to install the
USB 2.0+Firewire+10/100 drivers
Windows 98SE
1. Boot up Windows. At the Add New Hardware
Wizard, click Cancel.
2. Insert the driver CD, click Start, Run, type in
X:\USB2\setup206.exe, then click OK. (Change X:
to match the drive letter of your CD-ROM)
3. SelectYes,Iwanttorestartmycomputernow,then
click Close.
4. WhenWindowsresumes,attheAddNewHardware
Wizard, click Next.
5. Insert the driver CD, choose Search for the best
driver..., then click Next.
6. Uncheck all boxes and click Next.
7. Click Next and Finish.
8. ThePCIEthernetControllerisnowdetected. Atthe
Add New Hardware Wizard, click Next.
9. Select Search for the best driver... and click Next.
10. Select Specify a location, type in X:\Lan\win98,
thenclickNext. (ChangeX:tomatchthedriveletter
of your CD-ROM)

11. Click Next and Finish.
12. Click No when asked to restart.
13. At the Add New Hardware Wizard, click Next.
14. Select Search for the best driver... and click Next.
15. Uncheck all boxes and click Next.
16. Select The Updated Driver (Recommended) and
click Next.
17. Click Next and Finish.
18. Repeat steps 13-17 two more times.
19. ClickYestorestarttocompletethedriverinstallation.
Windows ME
1. Boot up Windows. At the Add New Hardware
Wizard, click Cancel.
2. Insert the driver CD, click Start, Run, type in
X:\USB2\setup206.exe, then click OK. (Change X:
to match the drive letter of your CD-ROM)
3. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and
click Close.
4. When Windows resumes, the Add New Hardware
Wizard detects PCI standard PCI to PCI bridge,
select Automatic Search for a better driver, click
Next, then click Finish.
5. When the Add New Hardware Wizard detects a
1394HostController,selectAutomaticSearchfora
better driver, click Next, then click Finish.
6. ClickYestorestart tocompletethedriverinstallation.

Windows 2000
If you have Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 (SP4) or
later, the drivers will be installed automatically by the
operating system. No additional driver installation is
needed. Otherwise,followtheinstructionsintheorderin
which they appear.
1. Boot up Windows. At the Found New Hardware
Wizard, click Cancel.
2. Insert the driver CD, click Start, Run, type in
X:\USB2\setup206.exe, then click OK. (Change X:
to match the drive letter of your CD-ROM)
3. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and
click Close.
4. When Windows resumes, the drivers will install
automatically.
Windows XP
If you have Windows XP with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or
later, the drivers will be installed automatically by the
operating system. No additional driver installation is
needed. Otherwise,followtheinstructionsintheorderin
which they appear.
1. Boot up Windows. At the Found New Hardware
Wizard, click Cancel.
2. Insert the driver CD, click Start, Run, type in
X:\USB2\setup206.exe, then click OK. (Change X:
to match the drive letter of your CD-ROM)
3. Click Continue Anyway.Our driver has been
thoroughly tested in Windows for stability.
4. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now and
click Close.

5. When Windows resumes, at the Found New
Hardware Wizard, select Install the software
automatically (Recommended), then click Next.
6. Click Continue Anyway and Finish.
7. Repeat steps 5-6 one more time to complete the
installation.
Windows Server 2003
Windows Server 2003 automatically detects and installs
the correct drivers for the USB 2.0+FireWire+10/100. No
additional driver installation is needed.
To Verify Successful Driver Installation
1. Check Device Manager to verify successful driver
installation.
Windows 98SE/ME: Right click MyComputer, click
Properties,then click Device Manager.
Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003: Right click My
Computer, click Manage, then click Device
Manager.
2. Double click Universal Serial Bus controllers.

- USB 2.0 Root Hub Device (USB Root Hub for
Server 2003)

3. Double click 1394 Bus Controller or IEEE 1394 Bus
host controllers option and an OHCI Compliant
IEEE 1394 Host Controller should be displayed.
4. DoubleclickNetworkAdaptersandaRealtek...Fast
Ethernet should be displayed.
