Introducing the Data Security PCI-64
The Data Security PCI-64 is an affordable DES (64-bit) real-time
hardware data encryption/decryption solution for your data
protection.
Features and Benefits

Technology (NIST) certified DES (64-bit) real-time
encryption/decryption hardware engine

extra CPU time and system resources

Installation
ThisData Security PCI-64 onlysupports one securedhard diskdrive.
Do not connect two hard disk drives to this controller.
The hard disk drive connected to this controller is only available if
the Security Key is inserted during boot process. You can remove
thiskeyafterWindowshascompletedbootingandstillhave complete
accessto informationonthis drive. Ontheother hand,if the Security
Key is NOT inserted during the boot proccess, the hard disk drive
will not be seen by your system.
Note: Static Electricity Discharge may permanently damage your
system. Discharge any static electricity build up in your body by
touchingyour computer’scasefor afew seconds. Avoidanycontact
with internal parts and handle cards only by their external edges.
Configuring the PCI Card
1. Remove the sticker on the buzzer.
Note: The buzzer will make noise if a 1394 device, other than
the Security Key, is connected to the security key slot.
2. Set JP1 (see figure 3) to enable/disable encrypt/decrypt.
3. Set JP2 (see figure 3) to master/slave setting.
Note: Make sure JP2 is set to Master to enable encrypt/
decrypt.

4. The red LED below the security key slot indicates the
Security Key is not inserted into the security key slot during
system boot up.
5. The green LED below the security key slot indicates power
input.
Configuring the Hard Disk Drive
1. Always set the hard disk drive to master whenever you want
to encrypt/decrypt the hard disk drive.
2. Make sure you are starting with a new hard disk drive or
backup all of your data if you want to use an existing hard
disk drive.
Installing the Board
1. Turn OFF the power to your computer and any other
connected peripheral devices. Unplug the computer's power
cord.
2. Remove your computer’s cover and install the card in an
available PCI slot.
3. Push the board down firmly, but gently, until it is well
seated.
4. Secure the card with a hold down screw.

Connecting the Hard Disk Drive
1. Connect one end of the provided IDE cable to the IDE
Controller Connector (see figure 1) on the Data Security
PCI-64. Connect the other end to the IDE controller on the
motherboard or an add-on IDE controller card.
2. Connect one end of the existing IDE cable to your hard drive,
then connect the other end to the Hard Disk Drive
Connector (see figure 1) of the Data Security PCI-64.
3. Replace the computer cover and attach the power cord.
4. Insert your Security Key into the Security Key Slot and
power up your system.
5. Follow the regular procedures to partition and format the
hard disk drive.
Note: For existing hard disk drive with information, make
sure to back up information on this hard disk drive prior to
partition and format.
Important RMA Notice:
Thehard diskdrive that'sencrypted/decrypted bya given Security
Key will only be recognized by that key. If you need to exchange
this product for any reason, do NOT send the keys in. Your hard
disk drive will only be recognized by the original key(s) that you
used to encrypt/decrypt it with.

Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)
SIIGwarrants tothe originalbuyer ofthe productthat thehardware
is free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one,
two or five years from the date of purchase. If your product fails to
be in good working order during the warranty period, you may
return it to SIIG for repair or replacement at SIIG's option.
To return the product, you need to follow these steps.
Step 1: Contact SIIG's RMA Department
Toobtain anRMA number,SIIG's RMADepartment canbe reached
by phone at (510)413-5333 or fax at (510)657-5962 or email at
serial number is required. This number can be found on the side of
the box and on the back of the product.
Step 2: Complete the RMA form
• Fill out your Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)
form, and include it in the package with the product.
• Properly pack the product for shipping. All software,
cable(s) and other accessories that came with the original
package must be included.
• Clearly write your RMA number on the top of the returned
package and on the accompanying RMA form.
SIIG will refuse to accept any shipping package, and will not
beresponsible for aproductreturned without anRMAnumber
posted on the outside of the shipping carton.
Step 3: Ship the Product
You are responsible for the cost of shipping back to SIIG at the

SIIG will ship the repaired or replaced product via UPS Ground or
US Mail at no cost to you.

The 5 year warranty supplied with this product is offered by SIIG,

1. If it is within the first year of purchase, please return product
