Introducing the Data Security Bay-64

The Data Security Bay-64 is an affordable DES (64-bit) real-time

hardware data encryption/decryption solution for your data

protection.

5.25" Mounting Rack Assembly

Note: Use the Mounting Rack Assembly only when installing into

a 5.25" drive bay.

Installation

ThisDataSecurityBay-64onlysupportsonesecuredharddiskdrive.

Do not connect two hard disk drives to this controller.

The hard disk drive connected to this controller is only available if

the Security Key is inserted during boot process. You can remove

this key after Windows has completed booting and still have

complete access to information on this drive. On the other hand,

if the Security Key is NOT inserted during the boot proccess, the

hard disk drive will not be seen by your system.

Note: Static Electricity Discharge may permanently damage your

system. Discharge any static electricity build up in your body by

touching your computer’s case for a few seconds. Avoid any

contact with internal parts and handle cards only by their external

edges.

Configuring the Bay-64

1. Remove the sticker on the buzzer.

Note: The buzzer will make noise if a 1394 device, other than

the Security Key, is connected to the security key slot.

2. Set JP1 (see figure 3) to enable/disable encrypt/decrypt.

3. Set JP2 (see figure 3) to master/slave setting.

Note: Make sure JP2 is set to Master to enable encrypt/

decrypt.

Configuring the Hard Disk Drive

1. Always set the hard disk drive to master whenever you want

to encrypt/decrypt the hard disk drive.

2. Make sure you are starting with a new hard disk drive or

backup all of your data if you want to use an existing hard

disk drive.

Installing the Bay-64

1. Select an available 3.5" or 5.25" device bay for the Bay-64,

remove the cover plate from the selected device bay.

Note: When installing into a 5.25" device bay, mount the

Bay-64 into the 5.25" adapter first and follow the same

instructions. See Figure 4, 5.25" Mounting Rack Assembly.

2. Connect one end of the provided IDE cable to the IDE

Controller Connector (see below) on the Bay-64.

3. With a separate IDE cable (not provided), connect one end of

the cable to the Hard Disk Drive Connector (see below) on

the Bay-64.

4. Slide the Bay-64 into the device bay. Do not secure it at this

time.

5. Connect the IDE Controller Connector IDE cable (from #2

above) to the IDE controller on the motherboard or an add-

on controller.

6. Connect Hard Disk Drive Connector IDE cable (from #3

above) to your hard disk drive.

7. Connect a mini power connector (same type of power

connector used for the floppy drive) to the Power Connector

(see below) on the Bay-64. Use the included "Y" split power

cable if your system doesn't have an available mini power

connector.

8. Verify your device connections, then secure the Bay-64 to the

device bay using the provided installation kit.

9. Replace the computer cover and attach the power cord.

10. Insert your Security Key into the Security Key Slot and

power up your system.

11. Follow the regular procedures to partition and format the

hard disk drive.

Note: For existing hard disk drive with information, make

sure to back up information on this hard disk drive prior to

partition and format.

Important RMA Notice:

Theharddiskdrivethat'sencrypted/decryptedbyagiven Security

Key will only be recognized by that key. If you need to exchange

this product for any reason, do NOT send the keys in. Your hard

disk drive will only be recognized by the original key(s) that you

used to encrypt/decrypt it with.

Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)

SIIGwarrantstotheoriginal buyer of the product that the hardware

is free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one,

two or five years from the date of purchase. If your product fails to

be in good working order during the warranty period, you may

return it to SIIG for repair or replacement at SIIG's option.

To return the product, you need to follow these steps.

Step 1: Contact SIIG's RMA Department

To obtain an RMA number, SIIG's RMA Department can be

reached by phone at (510)413-5333 or fax at (510)657-5962 or email

at[email protected]. In order to issue an RMA number, the product

serial number is required. This number can be found on the side

of the box and on the back of the product.

Step 2: Complete the RMA form

• Fill out your Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)

form, and include it in the package with the product.

• Properly pack the product for shipping. All software,

cable(s) and other accessories that came with the original

package must be included.

• Clearly write your RMA number on the top of the returned

package and on the accompanying RMA form.

SIIG will refuse to accept any shipping package, and will not

beresponsibleforaproductreturned without an RMAnumber

posted on the outside of the shipping carton.

Step 3: Ship the Product

You are responsible for the cost of shipping back to SIIG at the

SIIG will ship the repaired or replaced product via UPS Ground or

US Mail at no cost to you.
